I have a series one tivo (20 gig) upgraded with an additional 120 gig drive. The unit has worked great for 2 years, but I switched to directtivo units and don't need it any longer. The problem is, after sitting in a box for months, I go to plug it in and nothing, it won't power on. I opened up the cover and made sure everything was still plugged in and it was. The only thing I hear is a ticking sound, like a watch, tick, tick, tick... Let me know what you think can be done.

Sounds like one or both of the hard drives have failed.

Sounds more like power supply if fan does not power on. Did you try jiggling the plug in the socket? Maybe the pins in the AC socket have oxidized or something like that.

    Ontario Canada.
The Ticking is the PSU trying to start up. Either it has failed, or it is being overloaded or shorted.
