Hooray!!!!! My Series 1 now works on serial again. I got a D*tv update yesterday night!

Six months later, all is well, and this thread of 24,000+ views can finally rest in peace. Thanks to everyone who posted, and more importantly to those who called D*tv and complained about their "upgrade". I'm sure that's the only reason it got repaired.

Once I got the 7.2.1 update on my Series 2 I lost ability to change channels. What settings are we supposed to use? I have tried all 3 settings and can't get anything to work. I have a D10-100 and a Series 2, TCD24008A TiVo with software version 7.2.1-oth-01-2-140. Is there a fix for this, am I missing something, or do I need to go back to the IR Blaster. I can't change to any channels, local or others, using channel up or by entering the digits. And I have checked my cable to make sure it works.

Run thru the setup for channel changing once again....

There is a thread here with the changes and allows you to pick one of the two methods for serial channel changing....

Read thru the posts...and select what works for your unit.

    Good morning, everyone,
Please forgive my newbishness, but I have a bit of a question. I am a new DirectTV customer (due to a relocation) with a SA2. I am experiencing the same problem you all have. TiVo will not record my season passes on the local channels and, at times, will not change to the correct channel to record as it takes 1 button push to "wake up" the D10 unit. Essentially it only types in two of the three numbers necessary for a channel change.

Am I reading correctly that by using one of these, a "TiVo Home Control Cable with RJ-14" instead of my IR Blaster will not only solve the local channels problem but the screensaver problem as well? Your help is greatly appreciated. Thanks!

Ok now I am a bit worried, I just purchased a used set of D10 rececievers via Ebay that I plan on using the Low speed data port with my SA Tivo TCD5400.....

Is this serial channel changing problem fixed??

When I call to activate should I ask about it? Also any other problems using the Low Speed data port for channel changing...This was the main reason I want to switch from dish to DTV was to get away from the IR blaster.. But from reading all these nightmare stories dont know now if I should even mess with changing providers..

Any help on this would be great..
