Tivo update over T-Mobile Web

    I'm trying to figure out how to update my Tivo Premiere's service—I temporarily can't get real internet (like DSL or cable modem), so for the time being all I have is my cell phone 3g connection (over T-Mobile full cellular internet service, Nokia N900 phone).
    I'm connecting my phone to my computer (a Mac) via USB, and dialing in from the computer. Then I'm using internet sharing from the computer (so I have an infrastructure connection—the phone wi-fi will only do peer to peer, and I know Tivo Wireless N adapter doesn't like that).

    At this point there is a connection, which fails with an N15 error because it 'could not get account status'—any ideas on where the error is? Ports maybe? Could I get around it with a proxy? I'm outside of my internet/networking knowledge here.
