TiVo Support - Just venting

    I remember that well, having been one unlucky customer who went thru that.....

    After 6 Phone Calls, Two months, I finally managed to get the Account Closed and my Money Back... but Boy what a mission that was :D

    Perhaps we should all walk down the Streets carrying Signs in protest. We could cause Riots of Mass Destruction......

    Then when the time is right, we charge upon Tivo's Headquarters and put an end to this Corporate Terror......

    Now I must run before the Tivo Gestapo come knocking at my Door :D

    Tivo should not handle cancelations in this manner. However, if it is a problem, just send them a letter telling them to cancel, then send one to your credit card company telling them to stop all future payments (or in my case I can do this online with the creditcard company).
    Fifteen minutes - tops.

    Not to sound too cynical here, but...

    TiVo is a corporation. Like any corporation, their absolute bottom line is not to be the best at what they do, give the best service, or please their customers. It's to make more money. Everything else is secondary/viewed through that light, and I dare someone to tell me otherwise. The reason a letter tends to work is not because they really care what you think, but rather that the effort you have put into complaining can also too easily translate into bad publicity for their product.

    It's a sad truth that corporations have all the rights of an individual but without any of the accountability. For all the love I have for my Tivo, it is not surprising to hear that the organization that put together my box is just the same as all the rest. Talk about how you'll malign their name, and I bet you'll get a response real fast.

    Yes, but run by human beings. I think most of us simply wish that some of the humans at Tivo would take a split second to ask themselves if they would like to be treated the way they treat others.

    Also, to correct a broad assumption: not all corporations act in such a despicable manner. There are good businesses who treat customers right. Tivo is clearly not one of them.

    When you do not get satisfaction from the merchant, flex the muscle of the credit card company. When you phone the CC company, state to the rep, "I have tried in good faith to cancel this service, but I keep getting disconnected / given a sales pitch / given the runaround. Time is money. Please stop all charges by ___ against this card."

    Then you will see how fast your service gets canceled.

    No entity that is service based wants to be the poster-boy for a "Shame On You" news magazine segment. Good for you!

    Thanks, we're getting there. I actually had my truck back Saturday, and sent it back this morning for some rework. Hopefully by the end of this week, everything will be made right. :D
