I'm not sure what you mean, here. A Mini wouldn't ever be a "from" device in relation to a DVR. And I thought QuickMode wasn't supported for Premiere models. (???)

Just a thought. If I choose to watch a show from my Bolt "my shows" on my Premiere, will skip mode and commercial skip be available. I could check but I'm not home.

It doesn't work when a Premiere accesses a Roamio's My Shows. But either does QuickMode, so a Bolt may be better.

If a Roamio is playing a program from the Premiere's My Shows, QuickMode is available. The reverse is not true.

If it didn't come with one, call TiVo and they should send one out. I know my refurb OTA I got last year for $200 came with a defective power supply. TiVo shipped a new power supply and I had it a few days later.

Although I will say initially they wanted me to return the Roamio OTA for another one. Fortunately I had a spare Roamio Power supply to check and make sure that the PS was the issue. But TiVo was quick to have me return everything for a replacement if i had wanted to do that.

So with a mini, and a six-tuner Roamio for example - can six people in six rooms with Mini's all be watching a different, LIVE program?

The host always has a tuner, so five is maximum.

You could start a recording on the host, then number six could watch it while it records. I've never tried that.

ah, ok - that makes sense. So at least five people can access tuners via Mini's - that's pretty good then

Its a refurb, so... not really. Also its been as low as ~110 new on amazon a few months back.

And given this model is 2 years old (and really, its a 4 year old box with a better remote added 2 years ago), the idea that any 2 year old piece of tech is still worth anywhere near its launch retail price is rather comical. Not surprising though, tivo is usually wildly high with its pricing for what is offered, but its gotten worse over the last couple years

Any "refurb" I've ever gotten from TiVo has always been brand new product. Every time.

as long as they stand by the warranty, then it seems like a fine deal to me

Have a hard time agreeing with you. The Amazon $110 lows were by 3rd-party sellers, who disappeared over time--many of our guesses being, these were fraudulent sales of some sort (most likely, boxes purchased with stolen credit card numbers, which then would lead to issues).

As to the age of the Roamio OTA, yes--and it still works just great. The new model, the Bolt, doesn't offer a whole lot more--it's more a developed version than a "new model."

As to the refurb issue, it has a full warranty--and refurbs I've purchased from TiVo seem to have been new, simply coming in a plain cardboard box.

And as to the price generally: a lifetime subscription alone is $549 or so. And so getting the box plus lifetime at $299.99--a nice deal, IMHO. (Try to find better.)

Curious, what is the clue to tell V2 vs V1 mini from pictures?

The name is centered with v2. It is left justified with v1.

Thinking of grabbing a Mini, but unsure of something.

I have a Roamio Plus (6-tuner) and a Premiere (2-tuner). The Tivo web site seems to imply that the Mini won't work with a 2-tuner Premiere, but I was under the impression that it would be able to control the Premiere so long as there was at least one 4/6-tuner Tivo on the network.

If I get the Mini, will I be able to use it to control both my Roamio Plus and Premiere, or just the Roamio?

    Thanks.

Just the Roamio in terms of seeing the program guide, to do list, watching live TV, and setting up recordings. But you will be able to see the shows on the Premiere in My Shows and stream them to your Mini.

Right, the Mini will access the 2-tuner Premiere's recordings the same way you currently do from the Roamio Pro, via the Premiere's icon in the Pro's My Shows listing. (The Roamio Pro will be configured as the Mini's host DVR, so the experience on the Mini will echo that of the Roamio Pro.)
