TIA for any help you can give. I run XP on my machine, and have tivo server and tytools installed. I have used these programs for 4 years now, and have never come across this issue before. Nothing has changed on my system, I have the same number of devices connected to my modem as always, I am virus/spyware/malware free.

Two days ago, suddenly my tivo server has failed to fully transfer .avi files to my tivo. This is the error message I receive:
Error: Buffer TY buffer timed out writing--Transcode failed to start or stalled
    Closed TY Buffer

    I have restarted my tivo
I have restarted my computer and modem
I have tried transferring files to my tivo that last month transferred just fine, but now they will not.

My tytool communicates with the tivo just fine; I can transfer recorded shows from tivo to my pc with no problem.

Help? Please keep in mind when responding that I am neither linux literate nor a networking god.....I have troubleshooted what would seem to me to be the obvious. I have not uninstalled tivo server (I'm running 0.4.4-a4.6). I can't find information on how to do that. I have downloaded from a link on this site the newest version of tivo server, should that be a fix for my issue. (after someone tells me how to uninstall the older version :) )

    Thanks!

Have you checked if the filesystem where your videos are stored is full?

I'm not sure what you are asking? My videos that I want to stream to the tivo are on my computer, on a hard drive with 176GB of space. There is currently 56GB being used of that.

Or do I mis-understand the question?

Actually, I meant is there space on the computer. The transcoding takes temporary space, so it could cause it to fail. But the OP has posted that he has space, so something else is wrong.

Above that info, under "TiVo Box Information", check what it says for "Software System:"

Just a caveat here though....nothing has changed from the time that all worked well, until this movie wouldn't transfer.

Question: would a bad file cause this issue? Or would a bad file result in a different error message?

A friend threw out a thought that it might be the power supply. Are they like computer power supplies to replace? I've done that on my towers....thoughts?
