I have recently purchased a TiVo Model TCD652160
Software Ver. 8.1.7c2-01-2-652 and I am attempting to add an additional drive through the eSATA port. The new drive is a Seagate DB35 7200.3 hard drive 750 GB Internal 3.5" with an Antec Veris Media enclosure with a supplied eSATA cable.

When I try to install the drive using the proceedure described (holding pause during reboot), I have no luck in getting the TiVo to recognize the pause command. It never stops but just keeps on booting up to the TiVO screen.

    Has TiVo disabled this?

I know the drive is working as I have hooked it to my computer and it gets recognized.

Any ideas on what I am doing wrong (if anything)?

    Tom

The eSATA port can't be enabled on the TiVoHD with that method. It can't be enabled at all (yet). I'm sure they'll get around to it though. The hack you're trying only works on the original S3 TiVo.

Wait until next month, the Fall software release should take care of you when the 2 platforms are more merged in terms of features and software, though I don't think that was specficially mentioned in Pony's post.

You can add an external drive by marrying the eSATA drive with teh internal drive using WinMFS (see other posts on this).

took me at least 5 attempts in order to get the external drive configured with the Tivo..

have you checked the cable you are using? many have reported that after replacing the cable they were golden... JAT
