Found it -- let me know when you're interested. $30 shipped.

If anyone else is interested, I have an original TurboNet card available for sale.

Its amazing how long we are keeping our S3 Tivos going due to this thread! Both of mine are still going strong after the capacitor replacements.

    Hi All,

I have a TCD652160 (TiVo HD) that has a bad power supply. I recently replaced the HDD to 1TB and that improved the speed and a lot of glitches. I had replaced the power supply back in 2017. I ordered one from WeaKnees, but it appears that about 2 years later I need another one. As I was replacing the HDD i didn't notice any crazy bulging of the capacitors, but I did notice a few of them were not standing up straight. I doubt I will be able to solder on new capacitors onto the power supply (although it does not look too bad). Ideally I would like to purchase a new power supply. The symptoms include random reboots and the TiVo completely loses power and then reboot instantly. It is becoming more and more frequent.

I want to ask where where is the best place to purchase a replacement power supply from? WeaKnees is pricey ($100 after exchanging older one for a refurbished unit), and clearly it has only lasted me 2 years. I am vey familiar with the installation process of a new power supply. I have found a few on eBay for roughly $30 + $20 for shipping within the US. The model number of power supply that is currently in my TiVo HD is SPWR-00011-000.

Looking for any helpful information I can gather from this awesome community. Thank you so much for your help. Let me know if you need any further information from me.

You are correct 2 years of service is not good.
Did you contact weaknees about the problem?

It is not likely that there are any new or new old stock power supplies.
I would find an electronics repair shop in the area (search engine of your choice) and have it repaired.

I have a PS from a Tivo HD around here that I pulled before sending the unit to recycling. I have already replaced all the caps. I'm leaving for a few days, but I'll try to find it this weekend for the correct part number. If it matches, I can sell it to you for $40 shipped COUS.

So actually it was 3 years, March 2016 was around when I received the power supply & returned the old one back. With that said I did email them expressing concern and they let me know it does not include a warranty, and they would recommend using a surge protector. I use a APC UPS Battery Backup & Surge Protector for my TiVo so I would say I'm definitely covered and doing my due diligence.

That's hard to believe they (WK) did not assume any responsibility or offer to repair the power supply for a reduced cost.

Yes using a UPS is always a good idea.

After emailing them again I specifically inquired about a discounted repair. They informed me that this far out after purchase they cannot offer me a discount. I am disappointed but I will obviously need to pursue other options.

I believe there are fewer and fewer people bothering to repair old(er) TiVos these days.
So, I suspect that WK's business model could be failing... Customer service is the first thing to suffer from the downward spiral.
From the Roamio TiVo models and forward; appear to me to be like toilet paper, use once and throw away.
I.E. there is nothing serviceable worth the labor of fixing in the newer TiVo units. Unless it's DYI...

I would find a repair shop in the area to get the existing P/S repaired.

I had a bad power supply in an Series 3 and repurposed an power supply from a PC to fit. Had to do a lot of soldering and heat shrinking to get it to fit. Even had to remove part of the heat sink to get it to fit in the case. I cut a hole in the cover and placed an fan to deal with the heat. Working Great....

Posting this in case it helps anyone else. My Tivo HD ran into a hard drive problem. I postponed fixing it for about a month. I then replaced the drive and powered the Tivo back up. Nothing happened for about 3 minutes and then suddenly the green light came on and the "Welcome. Powering Up" appeared. However, it just stayed there. Seemed to me that it wasn't getting enough power to the hard drive.

I looked at the power supply and all the capacitors looked good, no bulging, no leaking. But it seemed like a power supply problem to me. So I ordered the following capacitors, replaced them, and now it's working.

For reference, my power supply board is an AcBel ST7002-BW0G. Says it's Rev:A. There are ten capacitors which I ordered from Digikey.

    3 x EEU-FR1C222, Digikey #P14402-ND - CAP ALUM 2200UF 20% 16V RADIAL

    1 x EEU-FR1C102L, Digikey #P14397-ND - CAP ALUM 1000UF 20% 16V RADIAL

    1 x EEU-FM0J102, Digikey #P12340-ND - CAP ALUM 1000UF 20% 6.3V RADIAL

    1 x EEU-FR1C471, Digikey #P14394-ND - CAP ALUM 470UF 20% 16V RADIAL

    2 x EEU-EB1H470SH, Digikey #P19613CT-ND - CAP ALUM 47UF 20% 50V RADIAL

    1 x EEU-FR1E101B, Digikey #P15348CT-ND - CAP ALUM 100UF 20% 25V RADIAL

    1 x 200TXW470MEFC18X40, Digikey #1189-1197-ND - CAP ALUM 470UF 20% 200V RADIAL

Some of the capacitor sizes are physically different from the originals. For the three 2200uf 16v capacitors that are clustered together, I recommend removing all of the old ones and putting all of the new ones into position and then solder. This should give you some wiggle room. If you do them one at a time, you might have a hard time squeezing them in.

    Hope this helps

OK... this may be a plan "B" for you (or perhaps plan C or #5)...

Check your local Craigslist often for TiVos for sale. A 'few' have lifetime, most do not... If you are careful about S3 series numbers you may be able to harvest a replacement supply and perhaps a hard drive too! Hopefully your replacement supply with bring your S3 back to life!

Meanwhile you can buy replacement Caps for both. Get you sick supply healthy first... then heck, update your replacement (Craigslist) supply too and have one spare.

One fellow had TWO S3's that are lifetime and I purchased both for $80! He had extra remotes and 2 (newer series) WiFi adapters as well...

Also many TiVo owners without lifetime become 'disenchanted' with the high monthly bills and simply 'disconnect' after just a few months of service. They totally disconnect everything, put the TiVo in a closet and forget it. I was happy to find a S3 orphan from/with those same circumstances and the insides are "immaculate". I suspect the hard drive has just a few hundred hours on it? At $20 it was hard to resist... Box manuals ~ the works.

A obvious hint... always talk to the seller asking the history and TiVo details. I hope this helps you and others...

Hi All - if I post a picture of my TiVo HD power supply, would that help to see what the capacitors look like? I know its a bit strange after 3 years for it to be going bad again but I just want to confirm this is the source of the reboot. It is also important to note that I have replaced the HDD.
