Do you get Guide data for the new WTHR listing? .....I must be doing something wrong. All I get is "To Be Announced"

    Chris

    Well, I'll be a #@*^!%(

I when back and looked again, and channel 13 wasn't even in the guide. I went into setup...added it....and viola!
Evidently, even though the connection finishes, the entire loading process takes longer than it shows.

Anyway...that was much quicker than last February's SNAFU.

I haven't done anything yet and my guide is showing two 8-1's and two 11-1's, one of each showing "to be announced".
I get the Tivo error bong if I try to select a TBA channel. The channels with data are behaving normally.
I think I'll wait 'til tomorrow to do a channel scan since the channels are switching at different times.

As noted above, the guide information doesn't update instantly after the connection finishes. Your guide will not reflect the new frequency assignments until 15-30 minutes after the connection completes. In some cases, it may take as long as 45 minutes.

You might need to tell tivo the two other channels are not used.... in setup.
I assume they are the old assignments. I didn't have to do that myself, but it sounds like this is what you might be into, if the other two work correctly.

I like your sig....Someone else watches the Red Green Show.

Good questions. My rescans found the new frequencies (same virtual DTV channels), but I can't delete the previous ones from my channel list. Of couse, I can de-select them, but they still clutter my channel list. I doubt the guide info will be updated any time soon until this all shakes out...

When Hawaii went digital, back in February, it took Tribune/TiVo about a month to fix the guide data.

I hope they get the updates faster now.

I connected to the TiVo service at about 4am, and still WHDH 7-1 isn't working. Hopefully it won't be a month.

Well, I can answer my own comments here....give it a little time, folks. I had an overnight connection, and all is now well here. The three channels that changed frequencies are now properly entered in my program guide all with complete program data. And I WAS able to delete the old channels from my listings.

I have three channels as of this morning that still aren't right even after forcing a connection, waiting an hour, rebooting the TiVo, and even redoing guided setup. I finally just submitted the issue via the lineup change form. Thankfully they are three channels I don't watch much. I know this was a very complex move, I know there are lots of markets, and I know TiVo only controls some of the data, but I don't think a 60% success rate in my market is much to cheer about. This information has been known and knowable for at least a year if not longer.

What's even sadder is that if you go to the TiVo page on the DTV transition and select the Series 3/TiVo HD with antenna is says "Your TV setup will not be affected." That isn't just inaccurate, it's plain wrong.

Tivo should have sent a message about how to deal with the channel changes. We got our TivoHD's updated, but it was a little confusing and frustrating. It would have gone easier with a message outlining what to expect and what actions to take.

last evening after reading this thread I thought- boy what a mess and went to go clean up my 2 S3's.

all the OTA mapping was a mess.

so i forced a call and viola tivo fixed fixed just about everything. one interesting thing is all the old channels I guess i had scanned over time and so I would have say 2-1 WCBS and then right below it the scanned 2-1 *WCBS. But the tivo correctly moved all the recordings to the new 2-1 WCBS without the asterisk.

I rescanned to be sure and tivo was spot on- I live half way between NY and Philly, so between those 2 markets plus some minor stuff in NJ ,North Eastern PA, and Deleware I literally have SCORES of ATSC channels and sub channels. the only think tivo missed where 2 spanish languad -2 subchannels.

But still i had all the * old channels. So I went in to the channel scan and did delete scanned channels- it asked for confirmation and nuked all the * channels. If I cared about the 2 spanish language subs I could just rescan but I dont so I didn't.

So basically do a phone call, then delete scanned channels, then rescan and it should be all fixed up. At least that was my experience.

(interestingly tivo still is sending down the old now dead analog channels- I guess in the coming days they will delete those from my channel list too)

Not to be rude- but if they have a time and resource poblem to QC things- I'd assume they hit the largest DMA's first - while Durham isn't exactly a Dink, it does look like the got NY and Philly very close to perfect. So I'd guess shortly they will fix the next larget markets like Durham next.

But I do agree- I dont really get why things are so hard- there's been the chart for like months and months now. If there's some channels that didn't move to their final location yesterday I get messing that up, but why doesn't tribune/tivo assume everything is as the end chart says it should be? So I can see problems for parts of yesterday and parts of today becasue the daily calls couldn't match the times the stations changed But after today's call things really should be correct for the vast majority and it seems that may not be the case based on your experience.

Report from the Boston area. WHDH moved from UHF to VHF 7 at midnight, and (now that I have my rabbit ears fully extended :=)) it's working perfectly fine here on my S3 in Burlington MA. Evidently the data was updated, and my TiVo acquired the new data naturally.
