Beginning this past Saturday, my TiVo Roamio Plus has been running very slow and occasionally gives me C501 errors. I have powercycled the box multiple times. I have swapped the CableCARD and Tuning Adapter. I connected to TiVo Service. Any ideas to fix this issue?

Yes but very slow. My other TiVo box is able to connect much quicker so I don't believe it is a network/router issue.

i'm not sure i agree. if this was a tivo server issue, other users would be reporting the c501 error, and you'd see it on both of your tivos. since it isn't widely reported, my guess is a local networking issue, or a hardware failure, either your network or the one tivo.

how is the tivo connected, wi-fi or ethernet?

if wi-fi, can you temporarily switch to ethernet for troubleshooting?

have you swapped the tivos to see if the trouble follows the tivo, or stays with the location?

I already have Ethernet connectivity on both boxes. Already swapped TiVos and trouble follows.

sounds like the problem is following the hardware. have you tried using wi-fi instead of ethernet on the troubled tivo?

Yes. WiFi is slower than Ethernet.

sorry you're having so much trouble, but it sounds as this tivo has hardware that is failing. is it under warranty?

No. I bought it 3 years ago. Looks like time for a repair...

Just a small comment. I find when something is running slowly, it's really running very hard just not what you want it to run. So it's just too busy to do what you want it to do. I would do a few things before sending it back. First is to check System Information to see if all the dates look ok. Then check TiVo box Diagnostics to be sure all tuners are working. The MBT (system temperature) should be about 40. I would also run a CPI&TDL, which does not harm any recordings or settings. It may be broken, but if you have the time you can see if it's slow just playing a recording with the network disconnected. Good luck.

have you made any modifications/repairs to this tivo before?

all good suggestions, was wanting to make sure the box wasn't under warranty before we went much further!
