    Hello.

My TiVo Roamio Resetting all the time. Is this a known issue.

Is there a resolution? Maybe there is corrupt firmware or something?

Has anyone ever heard of this ? Maybe my 8TB hard drive too large for the system to handle?

    Thanks.

One of my three running basic Roamio boxes did a restart last week at the end of a service connection. That's the only unintended restart in three years or so. I think you have already been looking at the power supply from previous posts. On my 3TB Roamio the MBT (internal temperature) is 41C, a little warmer than my 1TB Roamio boxes.

Both my Roamio Pros have a tendency to crash and restart (as opposed to "resetting"), and, perhaps not so coincidentally, they've been upgraded to 6TB and 8TB WD Red drives. I'm not sure if it's the drive size or a networking issue, but I haven't bothered contacting TiVo Support since I don't expect they'd be too interested in helping once they would become aware of the DIY drive upgrades.

so you mean rebooting? It _could_ be a bad hard drive.. or are you sure you did the expanding correctly? If that's messed up, it can cause rebooting too (or at least could in the past)

if you didn't do any manual expanding, then the tivo itself 'just' thinks it's 3 TB (i.e. it can only handle 3 TB automatically)... though I thought there was a problem at some point where some bigger hard drives DID cause rebooting..
yes I admit no absolute answers, but some pointers.

"Constant" is ambiguous. Was it continually rebooting, never getting to TiVo Central, or just frequently rebooting during use? Once a day, a week...???

I see the occasional playback freeze followed by a reboot once a month or so but it's completely random. Can immediately rewind and play the same show again after it reboots (without issue) so I don't think it's the drive. This is with the stock 1TB drive in a Plus btw.

Mine just had the first issue ever with a 'restart' - now in settings it shows "last attempt" 8:54 (90 minutes ago) flagged as 'SUCCEEDED', "next attempt" 2/10/18 10:57. Aside from a 'power interruption' this is the first time ever unless it was following an UPGRADE of some sort. Now the SV is noted as 20.7.4.RC18-848-6-848. Is the SV new? I seldom check!

There are places to check how much time has elapsed since the last restart. If you have a Moto M-Card, Cable Card Status shows DDDD HH:MM but every cable box has Time Since OOB Tune at the end of Diagnostics, It's in seconds.

First clue is all tuners on the same channel. It is normal for a service connection to follow a restart by 20 to 60 minutes. 20.7.4.RC18 has been out since last December.

It did the connection that was noted and 'Uptime' is a match at 0000 01:26. The only thing I see different and maybe only because I was paying attention is that the CARD is now ID'd as Man: ARRIS. When did that come about?

I don't remember my Roamio Plus (upgraded to 3TB) resetting often in the three+ years I've had it. Looks like the last time was 41 days ago. End of December. Not sure if it was after a firmware update, or if I just decided to reboot my electronics (modem, router, TiVos) when I got back from a two week trip over Christmas.

That's a new thing but not a surprise since my cable modem is Arris but was Motorola. I guess it means your card is fairly new. Is the software still 6.25 in Diagnostics? Also, my Manufacturer ID is zero (as is my Remote mfgr).

I guess that update in 2017 changed the manufacturer. There's a thread around here concerning cable card updates.

Never had a reboot on our Roamio Pro (factory 3TB drive but with MFSR run on it) other than for updates (since October 2015).

Had another on our 6TB SAT night at 10:20pm. I really need to look into resetting one of our Roamios daily, manually, to see if it reduces or eliminates the crashes.

(Upgrading just one to Hydra isn't an option.)

Have had my Roamio Pro randomly reboot far too frequently too. Can just be watching a show and have it reboot. Have had it reboot while fast forwarding and while watching a previously recorded show. All since changing to the new menu system.
