My wife left me a note this morning stating, "Tivo does not turn on at all." It is a Tivo Roamio OTA. Where do I start to try and troubleshoot this?

Have you tried unplugging the power adapter and plugging it back in? Are there any lights on the Roamio? Check for a light on the network plug? Put your right up to the unit, do you hear anything? Do you have a volt meter to check the power adapter? Changed the remote batteries? Maybe the remote got changed to another address?

Remote would be RF and not easy to change the IR remote address inadvertently.

I did unplug the power adapter and tried it on a Tivo Mini. The Tivo Mini did power up with the power adapter from the Roamio.

There are two lights illuminated near the Ethernet port.

If I recall correctly in the past, when power was first applied, a light of some sort would come on without even using the remote control. I can try changing batteries, however.

I did call Customer Support. The bottom line is they offered a replacement for $149.99. I thought about it and declined. Then, they came down to $79.99 for a replacement 1TB Tivo Roamio OTA.

Do people here think it is a good move or bad move to take a replacement for $79.99?

Best solution for: cable cutters new to streaming or streaming on one TV.

Sign up and prepay for 3 months of Sling and get: one AirTV Mini to stream your favorite shows and channels, an HD antenna to get FREE locals, and an AirTV 2 to integrate local channels like ABC, NBC, CBS, FOX, PBS, and more into your Sling channel guide.

Bad solution when one wants DVR (Tivo) functions and Sling does not work with it.

If a person really likes their TiVo, that's a great price.

A few years ago I paid $49 for a referb romio basic with a monthly subscription; after the new unit failed at 97 days of service.
    So $80 is not terrible.

A nice price. Even if you decided you didn't want to keep it, you could sell it on eBay and make a nice profit. ;)

Are you sure about that? I just bought a nice, clean Roamio OTA in excellent working condition on eBay for $32 shipped. Now, if it had lifetime service, it would bring $200 or more.

The "current" version of the Roamio OTA includes Lifetime.

Okay, I did not understand that is what they're offering him. I think I read on another thread where Tivo offered a reduced price on the machine and then $199 to transfer the lifetime service.

That would be on the non-OTA models.
