TiVo announced today that they are teaming with Real Networks to offer Rhapsody service through the TiVo broadband interface. Now if only DirecTv could develop its own music service that doesn't have 4,000,000 songs available, they could change the interface so no one familiar with Rhapsody could use it, and they could put it on their own unreliable hardware that would entice people to pay $300 to lease it with a two-year contract (only to regret that decision later). Surely millions of Rhapsody customers would cancel their subscription because DirecTv thinks they have "improved" the generic on-line music service product. That would be great !!!
