Not necessarily. If you want some suggestions and not others you can't turn the feature off. - the only options are to delete them or keep them and keeping things that you don't want and can easily eliminate makes no sense what so ever especially if they bother you enough that you have to ask about them in a help forum. And when you don't know a thing about the suggestions feature as the OP didn't, the options are still the same.

If your neighbors dog craps on your front sidewalk do you have to remove it? No, you're right, you don't. But if you don't want it there and don't remove it, it could be there annoying you an awful long time before it's gone.

Not everyone fills their hard drives, leaving the deleting of recordings to create room for more recordings to the system. Some people watch and delete. See that's another part of the tivo tv your way thing.

I could leave suggestions on and I could program all twenty presets on my car radio, but that would be useless considering that there are only 4 radio stations that I ever care to listen to. Am I missing out by not using all of the presets or all of Tivo's features? Hell no. Everything does exactly what I need and expect it to do.

Jeez, then do that for heaven sakes. Note that the comment was: "You don't need to delete them." Not "You are legally required to keep them."

Wasn't that simple? Suggestions are just as easy as poop. Clean them up, enjoy them, or let them clean themselves up. Or just turn the pooping off. Your choice!

That's what thumbs up and thumbs down is for. If you train Suggestions by giving thumbs up to things that you like and thumbs down to things that you don't, you can exert a high degree of control over what will be recorded. If you do it consistently, TiVo Suggestions will almost never record anything that you haven't given a thumbs up. And as someone else in this thread mentioned, it's a very handy alternative to Season Passes when you want to record things like old sitcom reruns (Seinfeld, Roseanne, Friends, etc) that air multiple times a day.
