    5. $270 box & $99 for 1 year service

I know some people were able to get some non published deals but I left them out. I am also leaving out the various discounts retailers had/have.

Anyone care to speculate what TiVo will try next? :D

    Thanks,

So what happens when a current plan expires? I have two TiVo HDs with the $129/year, $99/year option. What can I do when they expire this fall?

If I buy a new Premier lifetime using MSD and then cancel my current boxes, what happens?

"So what happens when a current plan expires?"

I just went thru this last month when one of my Premiere boxes reached the end of its MSD Annual Subscription ($99 per year). My online TIVO account offers didn't show this option, so I called TIVO and the CS Rep assured me that my original plan would automatically carryover if I didn't select one of the other options. When the date arrived, my original plan rolled over and I was charged $99 for annual service again.

This is consistent with TiVo's past policies. When they change pricing options for the most part existing customers have been "grandfathered" in and retain their existing pricing. I have a grandfathered $6.95/mo MSD rate on my Series 3 HD.

The one thing that has changed is they will not allow you to sub in a new Premiere into an old grandfathered rate.

    Thanks,

Your Premiere would keep its lifetime subscription, but you would lose your MSD status for any future purchases.

I'm glad they kept this in place when the Premiere was first released. I have one Premiere on the $6.95 a month plan. Although I wish I could get the $99 lifetime offer for it. I'm basically stuck with it since without lifetime it isn't worth much. But on the plus side at only $6.95 a month, the break even point for that Premiere is around the end of 2013. Based on the $299 that lifetime would have cost me on that box when the Premiere was first released.

According to another forum, if you buy the Premiere and then try to cancel your HD subscriptions they are likely to make you a special offer of $99 lifetime for the HD boxes.

Where are you seeing this? I don't see it on the Tivo site.

The $450 deal expires Thursday, so act fast. It sure appears like a great deal to me.

I don't know. Doesn't sound like a great deal to me, considering Tivo over charges for the lifetime to begin with. Anyone that paid $500 for the regular lifetime price, ought to get their head examined.

Why? Because paying $20 a month forever to the cable company is a better deal?

Tivo raised lifetime sub pricing, but lowered the hardware pricing. HW+LT is still less now than it was a year ago.

If they offered the $450 deal with a $50 MSD discount on lifetime I would bite.

Where did you get those pricing charts? I've been having a hard time finding exact prices on the Tivo site. Seems like they deliberately want you confused since it would be a simple as putting up a chart...

Go ahead and provide a list of all of the DVRs as good as TiVo for $450?

I wonder how many years until the Elite is this price. I'd jump on it now for that price (to replace dying/dead Tivos). But $450 again for just 2 tuners? I don't think so.. (if my other tuner literally dies within the next few days, I'll consider it.)

I just looked at the MSD pricing for me and nowhere am I offered lifetime for $299 - it's $399 all the way. How do I get $299?

My choices are either $99.99 or $299.99 for hardware and $14.99/month or $399.99 lifetime for service. That's the pricing whether I upgrade or purchase a new unit.

I currently have 4 TiVo machines:

    TiVo Premiere - Finishing a 3 year prepay for $299; then $129/year
    TiVo HD - $6.95/month
    TiVo HD - $6.95/month
    TiVo S2 - $129/year now; I don't know renewal pricing

When I purchased the Premiere earlier this year TiVo treated it as an upgrade to my S2 and replaced it into my 3 year prepaid package. They then put the S2 on a $129/year pricing model, at least for the first year.

When the one year contract on the S2 is up in January I plan to call to cancel in the hopes of getting a $99 lifetime offer.

Hmm... they did not grandfather my hd monthly pricing. That went upby a few dollars a month when the plans changed earlier this year (summer, spring?).

I have been building my chart for awhile, it is meant to show what different price points TiVo has offered the Premiere at. Note that the current pricing options are Bold and Underlined. those pricing option that are not Bold and Underlined are no longer being offered.

To get the current $449 promotion you have to purchase a Premiere from this promotion page:

If you select the Buy now button it will put the special promotion in your shopping cart.

    Thanks,
