I have a Series 3 HD TIVO that I purchased in January 2007. Recently, my picture has become "scrunched up" when watching non-HD TV broadcasts. In addition to the normal black bars on the side of the picture, I am seeing gray bars of the same width just inside the black bars. This does not occur when watching HD channels or when watching DVDs. If I change my TV's aspect ratio to wide, the picture regains it's "normal" appearance (with only the gray bars on the side). But in the past, the wide aspect ratio would cause the picture to fill the screen; now it does not, so there has to be a problem with either the Cable Cards or the TIVO unit. I was hoping somebody has experienced this problem and can point me in the right direction.

I believe this is a TV problem. See if there is a setting for the TV to use black bars instead of gray ones.

I'll bet your cat sat on your Tivo remote and changed the aspect ratio on the Tivo.
