I had the sound loss issue as well. My Tivos were not the problem in my case. My Onkyo receiver was the issue. When I talked to Onkyo they suggested I reset the receiver, which worked but it also removed any presets for surround sound, radio, etc. Pain in ass. Well, long story short. It failed under warranty, i had the option of money or fixing it. I chose money. I now own a nice little Integra that I love.

Onkyo and Denon same company for a while. No longer quality stuff.

I've got a brand new Sony 4k tv, a nice Onkyo AVR and a Tivo bolt and a cavvo connecting my devices (Roku, tivo, firetv, apple tv) to the onkyo and the onkyo to the tv using HDMI-ARC. About 4-5 times per hour the sound drops out for a second or two. Seems to only happen on the tivo (recorded or live tv), not my roku or firetv. switching the input to a new device and back seems to help, but it is annoying. have not swapped out hdmi to caavo cable yet, but onkyo to tv hdmi cable is a new 4k one

I'm not saying it can't be your Tivo but how are you recording/ watching live tv? Over the air or cable? If you are having drop off issues it might be coming from the source. Have you tried using your Tivo to watch streaming channels and do you get the drop off then? If so, then it might be the Tivo.

Spectrum cable. It might be the cable, I'm still looking into it. This morning I had drops on my other TV so it very well could be the cable

good idea, I will watch netflix on the tivo and see if I get the drops

Turns out the issue was the hdmi port on the Onkyo. When I switched the Onkyo to a different port it’s been fine ever since
