Judging from the promotional photo of him with an ipad in one hand and his other in the air, in an "I have no idea how any of this works" pose, I'm guessing not.

What I find funny is this disclaimer:

"TiVo will donate a maximum of $25,000 to the Tim Tebow Foundation. This promotion will run until the maximum donation is reached."

So basically these needy kids are in a promotion, and they're gonna withhold the pseudo-guaranteed funds from them until they get enough Likes on their Facebook page. lol.

TiVo plans to run six television commercials featuring Mr. Tebow, which are to begin appearing on Nov. 27. The company says the budget for the commercials will be in the multimillion-dollar range but will not be more specific. Those spots are being created internally by TiVo and the media buying is being handled by the R2C Group in Portland, Ore.

Makes sense to me. Every time I hear "Tebow" on the radio or TV, I think they are saying "TiVo". :p

That's the angle I was thinking too.

Internally? That doesn't bode well. They should have hired Virgin Media's agency.

Tim Tebow is some kind of football player who's also a religious kook, and Michael Vick is a convicted dog fighter evil guy.

Some kind of a football player is a pretty accurate description. Though his religious nature is apparently mostly what keeps him employed and in the news. Otherwise he would just be a mediocre quarterback who had some success as a replacement until he didn't.

Seems like odd criteria for selecting someone to promote a product.

Will I buy a TiVo because some religious nutbag has his face plastered all over the TiVo website? No.

Will I buy a TiVo if the software has been improved? Yes.

TiVo should spend their money on improving the product, not hiring polarizing figures to pose for pictures. Who's next? Donald Trump?

Well, I just watched the 2 vidoes they posted on Youtube with him. I hope to God he gets some acting lessons before they shoot those commercials.

Completely agree. I'm really offended that they chose someone so openly antigay. What in the world were they thinking?

strange i thought about calling or writing tivo when tim tebow was getting popular with the denver broncos, and telling them they should hire tebow to do commercials for TIVO.I gues it took them a liitle to while to notice that tebow sounded like tivo!

So I repeat, who are they and why should I care? The law has apparently taken care of one, and time will take care of both. If anyone within 100 miles of me knows either name in 20 years, I'll eat my recliner.

Now if I had either one in the sights of my .45, it would be another matter, perhaps, but since that isn't likely to happen, my apathy is firmly in place.

Good for you. Unfortunately, this isn't often the case. Brand recognition is a powerful selling tool. It usually won't triple the sales of a product, but it can easily make the difference between profitable sales levels and unprofitable sales levels.

It should not be the case, and it is utterly disgusting that it is the case, but there you have it.

I am more concerned with the hardware, but software improvement is also very important.

Probably him or some other huge loser.

I still think TiVo is simply trying to reach the middle of America and going for mass appeal. It may even be the same Middle America that loves football, NASCAR, Walmart, & Chick-Fil-A. Ellen DeGeneres would simply not have the same appeal to these folks and Tebow still has one of the more popular selling jerseys in the NFL - the most popular of all second string quarterbacks and some first string quarterbacks. He signs with a team that lets him play next year and TiVo will have gotten him on the cheap.

Does this have anything to do with why national broadcasts of Jets games have the camera pointed at Tebow on the sidelines for a larger percentage of time than the game on the field?

    Near the...
So if I don't have a TiVo Premiere I don't have to be subjected to this? Good.

Let the Jests try Tebow in a fake punt formation tonight.

I have seen Tebow ads on Series3 and TiVo HD in TiVo Central.
