The purpose of this thread is to use some poll data to gather more information about the pixelation problems that Tivo HD users are seeing.

Mods, feel free to merge this into the other pixelation sticky that's at the top of the forum.

This thread isn't for complaining about the pixelation problem, but looking for as much fact based info as possible about the problem.

Naturally only Tivo HD owners should be voting in this poll and this will be a public poll so we can see exactly how owners are voting.

If you would like to provide other, specific information about the problem please provide the information below it would be especially useful if those who say they are NOT experiencing any pixelation issues can describe their setups.

You should add another item for the poll:

"Don't have any macroblocking, pixelization with existing non-Tivo PVR box"

Cable Provider: Digital OTA and Analog cable combination
    Cable Card Manufacturer: N/A
    SCARD(s) or MCARD: N/A
Happens on both cards (if SCARD): N/A
Signal Strength from Diagnostics Screen: Ranges from 70-90% depending on the station. I am 30-40 miles from each tower.
Video connection type (HDMI/Component, etc): HDMI.
    Video resolution setting: 720p fixed.
Frequency of problem: When it happens, it continues frequently through the entire program (digital SD and HD). Occassionally associated with video freezing, which I can get to unfreeze with hitting "skip forward". Happens infrequently (once a week), but when it happens, its severe and makes the program basically unwatchable. This is not associated with multipath as when I get multipath, it only lasts 15 seconds at most. I have noticed one or two instances of short macroblocking (less than 1 second) on analog cable too, but this is extremely rare.
Nature of problem (macroblocking, smearing, etc): Macroblocking, see above.
Portion of frame affected (full frame, partial frame, etc): Usually bottom of the frame, occassionally full frame.
    Reproducable on recordings: Yes.
Coincides with audio dropouts (Y/N): No.
Problem happening in Tivo Menus (Y/N): Yes.

So far 57 respondants to the poll indicate that they have a noticeable pixelation problem with their Tivo HD. 3 say they do not. Hopefully the data collected is/can prove useful to Tivo folks working on this problem.

    Northern...
No problem on mine. I'm on my second box. The first one had no problem either. The only reason I exchanged it was so TiVo couldn't say anything anymnore about me upgrading the drive and causing mono audio output on analog problems. The new box outputs mono from analog channels as well(a mono signal put on FL and FR)So now they can supposedly research the problem. But no pixelation from either TiVoHD box. I also am not using any cablecards.

Portion of frame affected: Bottom half & Middle
Nature of problem (macroblocking, smearing, etc): Macroblocking, Smearing
    Reproducable on recordings: Yes
Coincides with audio dropouts: The majority of the audio dropouts I have occur by themselves.
Problem happening in Tivo Menus: Yes, sometimes there is smear/blocking in menus

Last night was the first night I really got to sit down and watch TV and it was very unpleasant... The drop outs and pixelation are frequent enough to make things pretty miserable. God I hope they fix this!!!!!!!

Also, Thanks to jmpage for creating the poll! I was under the mistaken assumption that the pixelation and audio drops were only on Scientific Atlanta, but it looks like there are plenty of Motorola problems too.
