I have an upgraded TiVo HD that was in a reboot loop, and then it died (womp womp). I was wondering if anyone knew the model number of the original (probably a Western Digital) HD that went with it.

Before scrapping it, I though I would see if it would boot with the original drive, which we have around here somewhere, but that would mean identifying it. Sighhh.

I popped open my TiVo HD (it needs dust blown out) and I have a WD1600AVBS, the original 160 GB drive.

    Hi there missdona :)

I believe this topic would be quite useful. You don't necessarily need to stick to the original drive model as you can use other drives both to upgrade the performance or the capacity of the device.
Post back if you have any questions :)

Sticking the original drive back in is the fastest way to see if the TiVo itself is in good working order before making any decisions about hard drive replacement.

So does it boot up with the original drive in there?
