Is it possible to use the IR blaster with a TivoHD box? I know that officially satellite isnt supported (because of the lack of cable cards) but would it be possible to use a D* box with an IR blaster as one of the tuners?

No, it is not. The TivoHD does not have any inputs except those for OTA and cable.

Dish Network and DirecTV have refused to provide Tivo access to their encryption systems, and until that changes, Tivo cannot support digital signals from those providers.

    Nompe.

The MO of the series 3 is to directly tune and record its source, not recording from an STB. Hence there are no A/V inputs or IR blaster outputs. If you want to use an STB with your TiVo, you need Series 2.
