Advertisements I tried to buy one of the refurbished Series 3 directly from TiVo today. I have a Series 1 from 1999 which has a grandfathered free lifetime service transfer to the machine of my choice. I was hoping to do that with the refurb S3. Unfortunately, TiVo says it cannot sell units directly without attaching a new service agreement to it. I could buy the Series 3 at retail and have the lifetime service transferred that way -- but I won't get the great refurb deal. If I can find any S3s at retail. I might eventually get a TiVo HD, but there's no rush for that. And TiVo loses a chance to get an additional $200 from me. Ah, well.
