I just opened a TiVo (happens to be a SERIES 3HD) to check the Power Supply Capacitor conditions? They look fine, however...

I do note the CMOS Battery (CR2032) is quite dusty and I highly suspect it is the original!

Do I simply replace that battery without power connected or should I 'power up' the TiVo before battery replacement?

Because the battery is 98% 'conductive' on it's outer shell, I don't want to chance dropping it on 'powered up' components... but I also don't want my TiVo to forget how to phone home!

    Many thanks Team!
