True if you count all the names. Like other late night shows, the host's name is now included. Since the current version started 2/17/14, this should be season 6. In the last three months it went from 4 to 5 to 4 again then back to 5. Season 6 would sync it with Late Night.

The problem with relying on the "Favorites" subset of your channel list is that the TiVo will use ALL checked channels to do recordings (even those with no signal), not just the Favorites sub-list. This can be a big problem if you have 1Ps or Wishlists set up to record form ALL channels - the program you want may really be playing on a channel you receive, but the TiVo might decide to record it from one of the BOGUS channels that has been automagically added to your channel list, so you actually never get it recorded.

All of this was rarely a problem back when the REAL TiVo company maintained accurate channel lists for each zip code, but when Bad_Rovi took over and decided that it was easier to just be lazy and create only one bloated channel list for each DMA (for me that's the entire friggin' state of New Mexico). That started giving us literally HUNDREDS of bogus channels that we were forced to sort through on our own to find the small number of REAL channels that worked.

This comment applies specifically to OTA, of course. I really do not care how the evil greedy cable companies handle their channel lists - I won't give those pigs a penny anyway!

My 1P usually contain the season and always contain the channel. Not a problem.

Is this in TE4 as in TE3, it's still easy (Settings & Messages -> Messages -> select message and hit Clear to delete)?

Sorry, yes TE4. But I never use Clear. I like to make the TiVo clean its own house. The way M89 & M90 stick around is funny. Those happen when you run out of program data. It can happen with a CPI&TDL, but not always. Probably since I have two units with no items in their TDL. Now that I think of it, they get cleared only with a GS.

As for adding channels, I understand. The default is My Channels. My feed recently added five channels (the Decades group). My feed still has TBA. If I watched them I would send in a form, but I'm pretty sure I have the only TiVo in my zipcode.

Refining a OnePass to target a specific channel (station ID) *should* limit the risk, but TiVo can still add duplicate info for a station ID.

I also would like for a feature of Tivo to not auto-add channels. Perhaps just create a message when a new channel is available. It could still add the channel to the system, but it could auto-deselect it in the channel listings. That way if someone wants it, they can go to the listing and add it.

One pain for OTA users is that not all users can receive all channels in the area. The channels that Tivo adds I often can't get a signal on. They show up in the guide listing and Tivo will auto-tune to them when it is recording a suggestion even though the screen is blank. So this kind of feature would probably be very useful for OTA users.

I also use Favorites and it is a huge help.

Once in a while I use the channel settings to clean up any junk channels Tivo has added to my list. Often, none of them are available in my area anyway with even the best outdoor antenna.

When new channels are added, I used to receive a message that new channels were added. At the end of the message was a link to the channel list. For some unknown reason that didn't happen when the last group was added. I may explain why they are still TBA and don't appear on my cable company's channel list.

so if your cable company added a new network/channel you don't your tivo to know bout it? I wish I had your issue, but I have the opposite our provider added new channels and Tivo still has no guide data.

One related feature would be if you could tell Tivo not to add certain categories of channels. For example:

    - Shopping
    - Religious
    - News
    - Spanish
    - etc

I'm sure many people have categories of channels that they delete and don't ever want to show up at all.

    And for the Spanish-speakers:

    - English.

I usually don't worry about clearing them, but can't speak to the run out of program data messages since haven't seen one of those in the past 18 years that we've had TiVo's (thank goodness). :)

It's funny when you change hard drives, or buy a new TiVo, those "welcome to OnePass" type messages appear every three days. Ignore them and they evaporate in two or three weeks. Only the guide data messages don't expire. On my one Roamio I have that M60 sitting there since 7/31. I'm not sure of the year.

I haven’t seen that behavior. Every time they add, delete or move a channel, I get the message and a link to the channel list (TE4).

It seems the only things that get changed for me are ones I submit. I miss when TiVo was on top of things.
