    Here's an issue I wasn't aware of.

I just replaced my cable box with a Premiere and a Motorola M-Card. I called to check my bill with Time Warner Maine and the rep said the charge is $8.50 per month. I said that I had previously been charged $1.75 or $2.50 and he said that was only because I also had a Time Warner DVR. He said the if the M card is the "first" box, the monthly charge is $8.50.

Has anyone ever heard of anything like this?

It looks like I could buy an M-Card for about $20. Does that sound right? It sounds like the trick is making sure it is the exact same card.

    Any information would be appreciated.

I pay $2.50 for each of the 5 cable cards on my account. I have no TWC DVR or any other receiver.

You can't buy your own Mcard and use it with TWC.

I have a time warner basic HD box (no dvr) because it's included in the package pricing and makes my bill easier to read. The cablecard for my tivo is about $2.50.

How was the install process for you? I'm nearby and will be calling them shortly to a CableCard install.

To update, I called Time Warner Maine today and was told that the first cable card charge is the same as a cable box. This is a little over the top in terms of another road block to cable card use.

Is this only the case in Maine?

I get charged a cablecard fee + an 'additional digital cable outlet' fee.
