Thinking about upgrading from Bolt 3tb to a WeaKnees 6tb upgraded Edge

    I've been having issues with my bolt, I think I'd rather just replace the whole thing than experiment with part replacements especially right now when I don't have the head for it.

    My Bolt currently is not on the latest software.

    If I go this upgraded unit route is there anything special I have to do besides add my cable card and plug it in? Does it need to be activated? Basically just want to know what the process is of switching my service from one box to another. I am a Fios subscriber

    yes cable card needs activated on new edge and tivo service plan on edge

    but the same card can be used? Also how do I go about switching the plan over to the new device?

    yes same card you can't transfer service to edge it needs a new subscription

    So I would have to cancel my current monthly plan? What happens if you had a life subscription and needed a new device?

    depending on if you wanted both tivo's to work they need service as for transferring service that would be up to to tivo customer service
