Goes a lot faster for me. Maybe 3 seconds total if I'm quick to hit the skip. It sucks to have a delay at all though, but at least it's not like the 1-3 minutes of rewinding a tape back in the day.

i am not sure why there is a difference but I dont get any of the black screens, BSCs, etc. I select a show, get the arrow screen for 1 or 2 seconds then either an ad starts (about 1 out of 10 show starts) or the the recording just starts up. When i do get an ad 1 press of skip and the recording is starting

Same here, only the arrow screen, and it's quick.

This poll is silly. Ask a question in this fashion and of course you will get all "no" answers. I don't want to see billboards on my drive to work either.

I get the quick arrow screen if there won't be an ad - but the longer process if there will be. I only seem to get ads maybe 1/3 of the time.

I can't seem to figure out why - the Bolt in question is in my frontroom, hardwired (Gig E) to my modem (200mbps cable) so there shouldn't be any speed problems).

I never get an ad and see the “arrows” for a seconds then program resumes. I don’t see what the issue is?

I don't get the black screen for a second, but I can hit skip as soon as any arrow screen shows up, which is pretty much right after i hit play.

There was a rumor a few weeks back that TiVo was recruiting TE3 users for a new beta. I'm betting this is why.

For those who like seeing the ads, I would like to understand why? Besides standing in the way of the program I want to watch, the preroll ads I saw kept repeating.

Could just as easily be a beta for the WiFi adapter.

TiVo replaced our Bolt+ (failed HDD after 2.5 years) with a Bolt Vox this month. Set it up with TE4 (initially). Tried connecting our TiVo Mini (TE3) and received a message saying that it would need to be upgraded to TE4 before it would work with the Bolt Vox.

However we could play recordings residing our Premiere XL4 (TE3) on the Bolt Vox TE4. We could not transfer recordings from the Premiere to the Bolt Vox though.

TE4 only lasted on the new Bolt Vox for a few days. Liked auto-skip but not much else and the pre-roll ads were the last straw so switched it to TE3. Now all of our TiVos work just fine on TE3 and play nice with each other.

"Liking" and "not caring" are two completely different things. Has anybody said anywhere that they like the adds? At most, folks have not cared since it is a one button skip process and any revenue Tivo makes puts downward pressure of future prices.

No, from posts in the forum, at most, folks have found that the pre-roll malfunctions and freezes their TiVo boxes and that they detest the pre-roll.

You can't say that you don't mind the ads on this forum because they will call you a TiVo shill and eat you alive. Lots of folks are quiet because of the intolerance of many on this forum when a dissenting opinion is presented.

Agreed. These ads were not factored into my decision to purchase a Bolt with lifetime service. I can tolerate the guide ads but not the pre-roll ones. So far they have not returned after being removed in November.

Yes. I have a TE3 Roamio hooked up to my Bolt and Mini Vox and can go back and forth

I use TE3, but i am trying out using an old router connected to my Tivo and Mini that's not connected to the internet.. Everything works fine on the live TV and recordings on both. All I need to do is plug in Tivo's Ethernet every few days to my internet connected router and do a guide update. This should prevent any ads from my Tivo should they force them on TE3 or force me to TE4.

It's kind of nice not having all the external junk on the screen.

Do people really hate these ads so much??? Granted I haven't seen one single ad even though I called TiVo to politely ask for them. I guess I'm not the lucky ones.:(

I am curious. Why would you want to see these ads? Most of the preroll ads keep repeating. Be thankful you have been spared for now.
