Well I have the back half of the season DVR waiting for news that the writing is on the upswing. I had hoped the finale would be reason to jump back in. Looks like I will wait till fall. There is so much to watch now I just don’t see spending brain cells where I wind up looking at my watch asking is it over yet.

    Very true.
If Eugene had not escaped (or if Daryl had killed him), they would all be dead.

Isn’t Rick saving Negan just a rehash of a plot from season six where the Wolves invade Alexandria to murder and steal, and Morgan takes pity on a captured Wolf by secretly locking him up in a jail cell instead of killing him? A big mistake, and a boring one, but no....they can’t kill off Negan because Andrew Lincoln, Norman Reedus, and Jeffrey Dean Morgan are all best buds.

Don't any of the men on this show have a pair of scissors or a hair comb? :)

Even if I didn't see it coming, I probably would have suspected something along those lines once they specifically showed the bullets during the "previously on ..." segment.

I love the conversations we have in threads like this, but it does make it hard to be completely surprised by anything anymore. Chances are someone will correctly guess what's going to happen. It doesn't really bother me with The Walking Dead anymore, since the show kind of blows these days. I kind of regret reading all the Season 1 Westworld threads, though. There were a couple major twists that were completely spoiled for me. Curse you, TCF! :D

In the zombie apocalypse, what little male grooming there is will be the first thing to go... :D

Why don't you just predict what they are about and we won't have to waste time watching?! :D

Well, if I was in that situation, I wouldn't want all that scraggly hair hanging in front of my face blocking my vision while I was trying to see how to shoot and kill zombies and others. That's just stupid, but then, this is The Walking Dead, isn't it?

I am totally clueless about the Helicopters. The only 2 things that still intrigue me on this show are the helicopters and the lady and the twins that showed up with the book trade.

The don't do a very good job of letting us know how far apart all these locations are, but in my mind they have to be within 5-10 miles of each other...if that is the case, surely somebody else would have heard or seen these helicopters.

As I sit here watching this, just because I watched all of them, the costumes always bug me, paint ball gear? Why?

Yeah, that was never explained at all. It just seemed to be the "uniform" the people from the Kingdom wore, without any particular reason. There wasn't enough coverage to provide effective protection from walkers, and obviously those plastic things aren't going to stop a bullet. So it just seemed like an easy visual shorthand to identify what team they were on.

Notice that in this episode when Morgan decides to leave, he takes off his paintball gear. If he were wearing it for protective reasons, there wouldn't be any reason to leave it behind as he embarks on his journey. But since he's leaving and won't be associated with the Kingdom any longer, he doesn't need to wear it anymore.

There was a scene when they first got to Alexandria - Michonne had spent a couple of hours or so in the bathroom, showering and brushing her teeth. Someone asked Darryl if he was going to shower and he said no. The man looks like he hasn't showered in the two years or so since everything went to hell. He probably hadn't showered for a couple of years before that.

It always looked like baseball/catcher gear to me. I guess if I had it available, I'd probably wear it too as long as it was restricting. I think any protection is better than no protection (from zombies)

How about Negan running behind the one tree in a big open field and Rick, instead of taking a wide berth..........runs right next to the tree to take a barbed-wire-bat in the gut.

I think the whole show was supposed to be some sort of morality play put into motion by the letters that Carl wrote. They could have just had Rick say to Negan "Can't we all just get along?" The most fitting ending I can think of would have been to let Maggie bash Negan's skull in with Lucille.

Even if you don't watch the Fear spinoff....I'd highly recommend watching the 1st episode of this season that just aired. The first half really was a continuation of the WD season finale.

People this is a show where the real common villain can not talk, think, run, shoot a weapon, or plot against you. Bite. That's really all they can do.

Of course story lines are going to be repeated. I can't believe they could have gotten eight seasons out of this premise.
