Oh - I was trying to think of an actor named Simon and the only thing that was coming to mind was Simon Cowell! Personally, I wish they had cast someone as Negan who was not so familiar on American TV.

Would Simon Pegg make a good Negan? :D

Speaking of boring, I hit FF whenever Negan is on screen. Talk about running something into the ground - we get it, he's a bad hombre. The endless sneering contempt gets old quick.

Only if they let him write and direct, also. The problems with the Negan character go a lot deeper than the acting.

I enjoy the Negan character, or rather I love to hate him. It'd be sweet revenge if Carl would chop his arm off and leave him to bleed out.

I just cannot get past the whole "lying about Maggie being alive" thing....what is their long term plan? They have to know that they can't hide her forever and when Negan does find out....ohhhhh boy! How many people would he kill then?

I did feel a little bit better about our group not just killing Negan and crew last week, after this episode. Maggie says something about that there could be a couple of hundred of them. That would give me some pause for concern that even if you did kill Negan and that crew, that you could be in for a lengthy and costly war with the remaining people once they found out.

I would think their best plan would be to pack up all the good stuff left in Alexandria and go find another place to live. They've already proven that people are more dangerous than the walkers.

But even that, couldn't there be watchers and they probably don't know everywhere that group is if they try and get away. Is that worth the risk as well?

Remember what happened in the season finale last season? They packed up the RV to take Maggie to the Hilltop and every route they tried was blocked. Clearly Negan and the Saviors had to have massive manpower to make that all happen. I think that's part of why Rick decided to give in. He saw that it was not just a matter of defeating Negan, but he has dozens, if not hundreds of loyal supporters who will stand by and watch him bash people's heads in with a baseball bat. That's not a group of people you want to go to war with, at least not without making a very solid and strategic plan. Simply killing Negan last week when they were caught off guard by his arrival would have resulted in disaster for Alexandria.

I think the idea was that the Saviors busted the gate with the rigged up car. The gate wasn't broken before the night of Maggie's tractor pull. You're right that the scene was poorly executed - the Hilltoppers aren't that inept. Only Jujitsu Jesus can fight? When our survivors first came to Hilltop, the gate had two armed sentries (though not with guns - thanks Negan!). Also, the walkers didn't seem particularly drawn to the car or the fires. I suspect if our heroes just waited, all the walkers would start clawing at the car for easy mass disposal.

When Carl & Enid were skating, I was having flashbacks to the Jennifer Connelly scene in "Career Opportunities." You know the one.

I'm not sure "kids" is the correct term for a couple of people in their late teens (both are 17 yrs old)...

The actors are 17. But bear in mind that time on the show is passing much, much slower than for us. It's only been a little under two years since the Zombie Apocalypse began. So if Carl was the same age as his actor when the show started (11), then he's only 13 now.

I am one of the 6 million who dropped the show after episode 1. Killing Glenn was a big mistake for me. Bet they wish they had a do-over.

Maybe. Despite the ratings drop (which continued this week), it's still massively popular for a cable TV show. They can't be happy with losing so many viewers, though. Perhaps we will see a new showrunner next season.

well - as my niece said (and I completely forgot)
    - how am i supposed to get over my beloved Denny from Grey's Anatomy being the same guy playing Negan?
More recently he was Juliana Margulies' boyfriend in the final season of The Good Wife - so the week Negan was introduced on TWD he was on BOTH shows at 9 pm on Sunday the same night.

Gotcha. I don't watch those chick-flick type shows.
