That was my breaking point as well. Although his death wasn't revealed until S7E1, season six was the last for me; which aired five years ago this week. I don't miss it.

But I dearly miss TWD season 1. (the only episodes I rewatch) I don't think Darabont's departure killed the show's quality- but I hope he wins his suit against AMC.

I don't know how far behind I am - two or three seasons. I've kept recording them in hopes it will end soon and maybe then I'll watch it. Now this supposed supersized final season is going to be spread out over two years. I may as well just delete them for the hard drive space.

I'm going to stick with it until the bitter end and have actually enjoyed some of the most recent episodes from a character perspective (particularly the one with Aaron & Father Gabriel and the one with Princess last week). That being said, this week was PAINFUL. It was just...nothing. Nothing happened. Daryl fixed his bike. Carol didn't make soup. That was it.

And not only that, but he spoiled the TWO BIGGEST PLOT DEVELOPMENTS in the episode!

To me it kind of seems like a distinction without a difference...but viewership last season was a third what it was at the peak, so I can see them deciding to put their efforts into TWD movies and other related series.

Well, that would have nothing to do with THIS season. What we're seeing is the tail end of Season 10 (the bonus episodes). The show is ending after Season 11, which has been expanded to 24 episodes...which means that even if it was unexpected, they will still have eight episodes to wrap things up.

That seems likely to me. Not just because I quit the show but, from all I've seen for the last couple of seasons, I cannot imagine that their viewership is anywhere near what it used to be.

It was exciting in the beginning. Last few seasons just seem to drag on and on with very few new things really happening.

Yeah, I really liked it for quite a few seasons but gave up a couple seasons ago. Just rehashing of the same old things IMO.

Any series that goes beyond 5 or 6 seasons tends to get stale. This show will be on for 11 seasons, although season 1 only lasted for 6 episodes. That would qualify as a full season on British TV, but well short of the mark by U.S. standards. In any case, it was time for it to end anyway, whether it was canceled or just a decision to call it quits. Fear the Walking Dead is still alive and well so you can still get your Walker fix there. World Beyond was only supposed to last two seasons anyway. Apparently there are three TWD movies in the works with Rick Grimes and a new Tales of the Walking Dead anthology series so there's plenty of dead for everyone to enjoy.

I stopped watching shortly after Glenn died and I know this is a world with zombies, but how do you create a movie plot to justify the kidnapping of Rick where his friends/family thinks he's dead, and make him a willing protagonist in a group of all new people? That's a tall hurdle to jump.

I too am someone who has stuck with it through the good and the bad.

The episode that will be aired this Sunday (which is already available on AMC+), I thought was really good. The subject was
    Negan's Origin story.

I've watched every episode, but I go through spurts. I'll let 10-12 episodes pile up and then eventually binge them all way later. I just got caught up again. I agree these bonus episodes were pretty lame with the exception of the last one, which I thought was excellent.

For the last couple of years I've actually enjoyed Fear the Walking Dead more, and I fully acknowledge that it's not a particularly good show. :)

I still haven't seen World Beyond, but I haven't heard great things about it. I'll get around to it eventually.

You haven't heard great things about World Beyond for a reason. It has some interesting ideas but teenagers being stupid teenagers during the zombie apocalypse is awful. At least it's only running for one more season, while the ideas will carry on into the other series. I can hang for another season hah.

World Beyond is beyond dumb. Fear... I enjoy more than the original because I like Lennie James and Garret Dillahunt. This past week’s TWD was interesting for a change. And although the series is ending/canceled, there will be a “new” show with Darryl and Carol to milk it even more. Maybe we’ll find out Darryl has a brother named Darryl.

Yea, Negan and Maggie will fall in love :p

The Walking Dead is a 2 out of 10..... same ole' stuff, over and over and over again.
Fear the Walking dead is worse (1st / 2nd seasons were good... Los Angeles and Mexico locations).

The vast majority of TV shows, if not all, are nothing like they used to be for viewership.
