I fell asleep during the woman who was wearing red's peformance. the original song was "meh". I liked Javier's performance. Tired of his hat though.

I concur with the others on the songs. I think Dia got the one that fit her best and had a melody in the chorus that really stood out. Next came Javier's song. Restrained with a decent melody for him to sing.

Vicci and Beverly's songs were just not good and did not showcase their voices. I really liked Beverly's voice during Beautiful (moreso than Christina's) and then they just gave her a song that just required her to belt it out at full volume, ignoring the nuances in her voice. Vicci's song lacked anything resembling a catchy melody.

I won't be upset with whoever wins. they were all damn good and talent wise these folks, as a group, were a step above Idol. Plus the finalists are all not teeny boppers. So in the end I think having the judges involved until the last stage of voting helped eliminate the debacle we sometimes get with Idol voting.

Yeah. I voted by computer and phone too. I've never voted on any of these types of shows before. I just really like Dia.

I agree 100% on all those points. I noticed that the quality of the performers was above that of Idol once they got through the 2nd round or so.

While I like Dia's voice and she's quite nice to look at, it does bother me a bit that she's done 4 albums, was signed with Warner Brothers to a record deal, and has performed on the Warped Tour 3 times. Seems she's already been discovered. I didn't check out the others history yet.

The mentioned that both Beverly and Javier had record deals as well - Beverly apparently made 2 albums.

Point is - we never heard from or of any of them. The purpose of this competition (for them) is to get face time and recognition to boost their careers. We will see what happens...

    I did not know that.

So was the initial shy-ness some kind of act?

I didn't know about Dia or Beverly's record deals, but I heard that Javier had a couple of albums already.

I haven't thought much of Christina as a coach on this show, but her duet of "Beautiful" with Beverly was just that. It was perfect.

I've said since I heard him sing that this show was Javier's to lose. I've been kinda bummed that Nakia was gone So I don't have much of an opinion regarding who should win.

"We" have never heard of any of them? I might just own all 4 Meg and Dia albums after I saw them on the Warped Tour. (I don't, but just saying).

I could probably find 100 artists in 10 minutes who have had platinum albums that I have never heard of. Is that what qualifies them to compete on the show?

Doesn't jive with the "about" on NBC website:

"The Voice" is a vocal competition series modeled after Holland's top-rated vocal talent discovery show, "The Voice of Holland."

If you have had a record deal (with Warner Bros nonetheless) you have been discovered.

Well, I have never heard of any of them, and likely never would without the show.

They are discovering unknown talent - for me, they are all unknown.

I would guess that they are unknown to most other people, too.

Just because you make a record doesn't mean you are successful or have a career. People have to actually buy your music for you to be known...

I think you bolded the wrong phrase. Think of it like this:

"The Voice" is a vocal competition series modeled after Holland's top-rated vocal talent discovery show, "The Voice of Holland."
