I had an old high school classmate get upset at me over that. Not this show specifically, but over the George Floyd protests. I was talking very specifically about those officers involved, and she immediately took it as I was talking about all officers. She turned to be a peace officer, which I had no idea about, she certainly gave no indication that she was. And in the conversation, I thought she maybe knew someone who was, or maybe it was her husband, but she took it all very personally. When it became clear she was the officer, I apologized and basically said I had to back out of the conversation because it was clear it was personal for her. That made things worse, and I'm surprised she hasn't unfriended me.

But yeah, somehow talking about a single officer meant I felt that way about ALL officers, and that's just not the case. And she refused to think otherwise.

Last weeks was really bad. Turned it off after 15 minutes.

Yeah, it was a bad episode. But they're entitled to a misstep. It remains one of my favorite shows.

I didn't like it, at all. But I watched the whole thing.

I thought it was better than some of the other episodes this season.

As the ep title suggested, it was in the True Crime podcast format.

I didn't care for it much, my wife loved it.

Since losing my TiVo, I haven't been able to watch this show, but I finally got around to binging my way through this season.

Regarding, the most recent episode: yes, it was really, really bad. For me, the biggest issue is that they attempted to depict it as a true crime documentary, but never fully committed to the conceit. There was too much of the unique "The Rookie" style that bled into the episode. Someone upthread mentioned "X Cops," the episode of "The X Files" that was presented as an episode of "Cops," and what worked there is they fully committed to the conceit - it was an episode of Cops that just happened to bump into these FBI agents named Mulder and Scully.

With this episode, there were so many moments that would have simply been edited out of an actual true crime documentary/podcast/whatever. Because that felt false, everything else felt "wrong" as a result.

That leads to the supposed clip from the sitcom. I challenge anyone to come up with what joke that could possibly be the punchline for, one that could believably be considered funny. IMO, can't be done. Again, it's one of those things that just take you right out of the story.

Was the “soundtrack” louder and with more lyrics this episode (e8, “Bad Blood”)? (...or maybe I was more easily distracted this ep)

The only characters I like this season are Tim and Lucy

Oh God, I just realized I confused her character with the recurring character she plays on 9-1-1! I was actually confused about why the fire captain was being questioned. :p

This weeks show was a whole lot better than those the past few weeks. Still wondering how they are going to handle the two rookies being on their own.

Eventually they'll just have to re-name the show Beyond The Rookie.

Or maybe Nolan will become a training officer and each season will be him training a new rookie
