That doesn't seem like a valid reason. If the gun couldn't be tied to the guy for the death of the mom, how could it be tied to the guy for the previous murder?

I just reported what they said, with no claims as to legality. ;)

Nice to see a TV show where a guy fights a woman and wins....I can't remember the last time I saw that.

There was definitely some oddness in being able to pick the guy back up. I was talking back to my tv saying "um, but just because the gun was used in a previous case doesn't mean they can pick this guy up, there's no solid connection there".

And in California can they take a dna sample simply when arresting someone? (Hmm, apparently the answer is yes, and the supreme court has uphelp that being legal.) Interesting.

I thought that you just gave the arrestee a can of soda, and then tested the DNA on that. ;)

They originally arrested the rabbit for running/resisting and the possible gun issue. For the re-arrest that night, they could do the same thing they did with the buddy they got to roll on him. "Oh, by the way, we remembered that hanging around with other felons was a parole violation."

Why they didn't keep him for the parole violation to begin with.....it was in the script.

He couldn't have been a felon because they didn't have DNA on him. that's why he was carrying the gun, most likely: he didn't have a record. So he can't be held for associating with felons. They found that the gun had been used in a previous crime, for which they had DNA. They went to the lockup to get DNA on the guy (I know they probably should have already had it but...) but he had been released already.

We're meant to assume that once they caught him and got his DNA, it would match up with the other crime, putting both crimes on him (since for the shooting in this episode they now have proof that it was his gun).

To get a shot at talking to the police chief or someone further up the food chain. I forget what she wanted to pitch to exactly but all 3 had different agendas.

Chen said she couldn't help because she wasn't anybody. Obviously Bradford being on the job many more years and a senior officer might be able to arrange the meeting and more inclined to do so, especially after spending the night.

Yeah, I know why she did it. But she stabbed her friend in the back to get it!

Except that he raised his hand with the others when Jackson asked who was on parole. If he didn't have a record and didn't want to be searched/arrested, that doesn't make any sense.

Can you be on parole for something not a felony?

You can definitely be on probation for a misdemeanor, but I'm not sure about parole. A quick google turns up
Normally, misdemeanors mean <1 year sentence served in jail. >1 year is served in prison. I think that's how it works in Idaho, but I guess this varies by state. Heck, it might even vary by county.

I know I'm behind, but they ended up in the hospital quite a lot last season! This may be a new/different set, but I guess they're in the ER now rather than wherever they were supposed to be before. There were tons of scenes in the hospital last season, and as was mentioned, the nurse from the hospital was Jackson's boyfriend.
