Even though it's not a fall show, it was mentioned months ago in Fox's 2018-19 fall schedule announcement: it will air Thursday nights, same as it did last season.

Firefly premiered over 15 years, ago so I am not sure what you are saying.

I still rewatch Firefly reruns. Firefly is a superior TV show so it's presence in a line-up as a market advantage. I do decide which streaming vendors to subscribe to on such topics.

While Fox did announce the return of the show at its May UpFronts, it did not announce a day or time at the time - a lesson the network learned a long time ago.

However, Fox did announce its midseason schedule at the end of October, and The Orville will air Thursdays at 9, with the final season of Batkid - er, Gotham at 8.

They did announce the day back in May -- it's in, for example, this Deadline article from May 14 ("Seth MacFarlane's The Orville, which aired on Thursday last fall, will return to the night after end of football, following a Dec. 30 premiere behind a [football] double-header on Sunday.")

I enjoyed the episode, but it had nothing to do with The Orville. It could have taken place at a factory in Detroit. Give us a LITTLE Sci-Fi in our Sci-Fi.

Someone taking a leak only once per year isn't sci-fi?

    Sci-fi alone can't sustain a series. I've always seen Orville as character-driven.

Celebrating taking a leak once a year is basically part birthday party part medical emergency, not sci-fi.

Can't it be both characters and sci-fi? I'm only asking for some more sci-fi and not ALL character. I'm sure they'll get back on track, but it was a slow start for the beginning of the second season.

It was actually the end of the 1st season. When the 2nd season was announced, they took the season finale and made it the 2nd season premier.

So it wasn't intended as a rousing season opener, but as a teaser for the upcoming season. Glad we don't have to wait a whole year to see how all the momentous suspense is resolved.

I like the series. But if he ever decides to do a typical StarTrek slow-down change of pace episode, they'll all be sleeping for 43 minutes.

It was interesting. They had what should have been the setup for an absolute onslaught of crude jokes, but instead deliberately subverted the audiences expectations and had the characters actually treat the concept seriously and with respect (other than 3 very light jokes).

The issue I had was the structure of the episode was weird. There was nothing driving it forward. Bortus' story was just sort of sitting there in the background. The four (4!!) other storylines (Alara and Dann, Gordon and this new crewmember, Kelly/Ed and the school teacher, and Claire and her kid) were all sort of crammed together in this episode, none of which were interesting enough or strong enough to support the episode as a whole.

It's like the writer's room had a few leftover concepts that they weren't quite sure what to do with, and that they knew weren't strong enough to be an "A" or a "B" story in a typical episode, so they just burned them off all at once in this episode.

    Kids story was dumb.
    No cameras in the simulators?
Ask computer who accessed the replicator?
Yes bad start for the season, but would of been a terrible season finale.
