Can't really provide more info at the moment - this was clearly a "one off" arrangement after I convinced a supervisor that I knew from working an issue with CCI 0x02 channels to help me. Until I can find the right folks in the Denver regional offices to make self-installation a reality, I don't want to get anyone in hot water.

The cards didn't come into the distribution center until last Friday - I picked my cards up on Saturday - before then, the only M-Cards in Denver area are/were apparently the ones preinstalled in the new DCH3416 DVRs, so I doubt many of the field techs have them yet.

When I've made more headway in getting the appropriate folks to allow pickup (or if my contact is OK with me posting more info), I'll post more here.

I will see if I can get the Comcast SKU and post it here - they obviously found it by using the Motorola part number, but I didn't think to ask for the Comcast stock info at the time.

Well... as they say, "4 out of 5 ain't bad..."

    1. Time Warner Cincinnati

    2. Scientific Atlanta

    3. S-Cards (Firmware Ver 1)

    4. Standard Digital, HBO, HD Tier, Sports & Games Tier, etc all seem to appear on BOTH cards. This is a seemingly miraculous feat for a first visit.

    5. It seems I have pixelation problems on BOTH cards. Also experiencing periodic dropped audio.

Joe, I think I probably benefited from your agony. When the guys showed up (Jeremy and Mike), they seemed to be aware of various issues. Jeremy went into the truck with his phone/PDA while Mike relayed host ids and serial numbers to him.

I had the "dreaded" firmware update message for both cards and I thought I was screwed, but both cards successfully went through the process in 10-15 minutes.

Then... All of the channels hadn't shown up. I thought I was screwed agqain because the guys said "that's all they can do" at this point. HOwever within 30 minutes or so all of the channels appeared on both cards.

In one of the diagnostic screens there's a parameter called "Channel List received" that you can use to monitor this status. I actually saw the value change on the fly from no to yes.

Now my problem is with pixelation and audio drops (I have SA cards like you). Hopefully Tivo will come up with a quick fix or else Time Warner will make Motorola CableCards available.

Installed on first attempt by Comcast employee that had never installed one successfully. I have two TivoHD's and both were installed within 2 hours.

    TivoHD in Den
    1. Comcast (Cherokee County, GA) formerly Adelphia
    2. Scientific Atlanta
    3. Two SCards, HW model: 0600 Version:0010
    4. Recieving "Digital Basic" package, includes both analog and digital channels
    5. Pixelation on Both Cards and audio dropouts when using Dolby Digital.

    TivoHD in Theatre room
    1. Comcast (Cherokee County, GA) formerly Adelphia
    2. Scientific Atlanta
    3. Two SCards, HW model: 0600 Version:0010
    4. Recieving "Digital Basic" package, includes both analog and digital channels
    5. Pixelation on Both Cards and audio dropouts when using Dolby Digital.

I also have another 2 issues that I haven't done much research on yet:
    (a) audio drops out during the time I press a remote button
    (b) sometimes reboots when I check channel strength of digital channels

I have experienced the same reboot issue while testing the signal strength, seemed to be when signal strength, was low or near zero when I was testing the impact of using an inline amplifier and adjusting the gain.

Two TiVoHD boxes with two CableCards each. Got the boxes last week and my cable install was yesterday.

    1. Bright House (Rockledge, FL)
    2. Scientific Atlanta
    3. Two SCards (not sure of the version)
    4. Digital package including HD (no premium channels... HBO, etc.)
    5. Pixelation on both cards and occasional audio problems (drops and sync)

The good news is that the CableCard install was very smooth. The full install for all four cards took one hour (from the time he arrived to the time he left the house). The cable installer was impressed with the TiVo install process.

I'm moving away from my DirecTiVo (which is old and having problems). So far, I'm unimpressed with cable (signal quality, lineup, etc...). I have not canceled my DirecTV subscription, and I think I will hold off to see how this issue plays out over the next week or so. One thing I was pretty disappointed about with the new TiVo is that the menus and guide are still very slow. I expected a lot faster response than my old series 1 DirecTiVo had (or my ancient series 1 TiVo for that matter). So far, it's about the same. I'm going to call TiVo tech support tonight about the pixelation problem... just to get on whatever list they may have.

MORE INFO: Called TiVo to report my pixelation problem. The support rep told me it was a problem with the Macrovision decoding and was not a hardware problem. He said they were working on a fix, but could not extend my return date. So, I will need to call back in a week or two to get new status and then decide what to do.

    One Tivo HD
    1. Cox Fairfax, VA
    2. Scientific Atlanta
    3. Two SCards (and two digital outlets :-()
    4. Expanded Basic, Digital Gateway, HD Channels, HBO
    5. Occasional pixelation on both cards, slow audio sync, but not enough of a problem to return the tivo.

My install was somewhat smooth. It took 2 hours to install the two cards and get all of my channels up and working. It required 3 calls to the office, and a couple of trips through guided setup. The first time, I only got NBC HD, and a couple of public access channels. The second I managed to get all of the channels except for HBO, and the third HBO finally worked. So far though, in the limited amount of TV i've watched, it all appears to be working fine.

I think the rep was confused. Tivo refers to the problem as microblocking. Pretty sure Macrovision only applies to signals passed on the outputs, not what's decoded internally.

I guess it comes down to how badly you'd like to record HD with a Tivo unit.

    5. None yet that I can tell

My tech brought two multi stream cards which I didnt know because I didnt get to see the cards. Thus he spent a good half hour trying to get the second multi stream card to function in slot two which for obvious reasons did not work. I gave him the tivo install sheet which had he read would have saved him and me a major headache however he assured me that he installed cable cards all the time and that it was no big deal. I am still testing but as far as I can tell I have all my channels are working without any pixelation. I believe it helps that my multi card was brand new. I guess my only advice is make sure you look at the cards your tech is trying to put into your machine before he puts them in as even the smarter techs have most likely not done a tivo hd install. Dont be scared of by these forums my tivo is working great!!!!

Any insight members with successful stories? Also, do you have to pay for Cable Cards?
