If you think casting announcements are spoilers and you don't like to read spoilers, don't click this link. Also, don't hover over the link because the headline (which gives away the news) is right there in the URL. But this is a big one.

Awesome. Should be hilarious. Or at least hilariously awkward.

Meh... OP said spoiler tags not needed. People were warned.

Maybe Ricky Gervais will be a candidate for Michaels's job.

Ricky Gervais would make an awesome replacement for Michael Scott.

No to David Brent as a Michael replacement. He wouldn't fit it the zany world of the US Office. The UK Office was a drab and dreary place filled with mostly normal people. And David Brent was unlikeable and irredeemable (at least until Gervais sold out his character in the final 5 minutes of the series ). The US Office is a sentimentalized version and in order for David Brent to fit into it he'd have to be the final-5-minutes version of David Brent, which was a very lame version that I'd rather forget about.

And as for Gervais playing another character as a Michael replacement, I wouldn't care for that either. David Brent is the only role I've liked Gervais in. Brent and Gervais share a lot of the same foibles and insecurities and arrogance imo.

There is a link inside a spoiler tag in post no. 5 that will tell you whether he is playing David Brent or not. It also tells you when the episode will air.

I haven't watched the show in a couple years, but will watch this episode. Too bad it is only a small cameo.

Reports say it will be "blink and you'll miss it" cameo. I hope it'll be more than a passing on the street kind of thing ala Hitchcock.

More like sitting on some steps out of view of the camera where Michael is talking about leaving for wherever his character is going, Michael finishes talking to the camera and says something to the effect of, "you know what I mean"...camera pans back to include both Michael and David on the steps, not conversing with each other but David has been listening the whole time and smiles.

Remember when Gervais wrote an episode of the US The Office? It was the one with Prison Mike. One of the worst episodes ever. The smaller his role, the better.
