Yeah, sorry, that's just you. This is a complete opposite of his best characters. He always is better when he's over the top and having fun. He's just too down and dark in this, and it doesn't work for him.

Not just Roadblock. I find the character kinda funny. And his introduction was timed to make us, the audience, realize that Michael wasn't the biggest buffoon after all. Helps explain why a guy like Michael could have made it to be the boss (and is a good guy) after all.

I realize humor is subjective, though.

What was the Phyllis/Erin thing? I missed it.

Both that, and the fact that Michael went through security with the mic on jumped out at me. My first thought was "that would never happen" and my second thought was "TCF is going to be full of people grousing that THIS is what's OTT."

In one talking head, Phyllis mentioned that she had given birth to a baby girl several years ago and gave it up for adoption. In a separate, unrelated talking head, Erin mentions that she never knew her real mother, or something like that. It was just two very unrelated comments that, if taken together, might mean something.

They also breadcrumbed it a little more by having them sit next to each other in the staff meeting and when the camera cut to them on a reaction shot, they both did a similar head-tilt thing.
