Jenny's is the most obvious but everyone is wearing the same outfits, even Nicole. It's kind of like Alyson Hannigan's dress on Fool Us (but at least there's a production reason for that, unlike on this show).

Yup. I know they are all in the same clothes. Jenny is just making me crazy so I commented on it. (I have no idea what Fool Us is LOL).

Show in which stage magicians perform an act and Penn & Teller try to figure out how it's done. If they can't figure it out the magician gets a trophy with a big "F U " on it and gets to perform during P&T's Las Vegas show. Typically one act per show gets the trophy and never do P&T solve all the tricks.

The host is Alyson Hannigan formerly of How I Met Your Mother. She wears the same outfit on all the shows, probably to facilitate more freedom on the part of the producers to compile acts into episodes.

But The Masked Singer has a more logical progression from week to week that there shouldn't be a production advantage to the judges not changing their clothes...

As far as I've heard, Masked Singer is produced like game shows - they crank out multiple episodes over a very short span of time. It wouldn't surprise me if all the "group A" shows were produced the same day.

On a different note... the "Masked Singer" tour. WTF? Best as I can tell, it's just the costumes going on the road, obviously not the actual celebrities from the show. What's the point of that? Isn't that basically just a "Yo Gabba Gabba" kids show type of thing?

It still wouldn't be very difficult to tell the "talent" to bring some changes of clothes. Jeopardy contestants manage it.

Hey, if Dancing With the Stars can have a tour without the celebrities...

Seriously, from what I have read, the tour shows will be "hosted" by two of the celebrities who performed, and each city will have a "local celebrity" singing in costume, then revealed at the end of the show. However, I have also seen the list prices for the tickets - in San Jose, except for the real cheap seats, the tickets range from $76 to $134; I can almost see the riots now when most of the patrons realize that not only are there no celebrities, but the "singers" in the costume are probably just extras miming to someone else doing the singing.

Looked way too short to be Bob Saget anyway. He is 6'4" tall. I thought that guess was very silly.

This thread has been dead for 3 weeks. Are we not gonna talk about last night’s shocking reveal?

    That was crazy!!

As the mask came off and one of the judges guessed "Tina Fey" I thought the same thing. So funny.

As a side note, I thought the swan was worse than the bear.

This group C is also the first time where I don't have a single guess as to who anyone is.

Hi sharkster, I'll put this in spoilers for those who don't want to know how the "magic trick" was done:

    - The Masked Singers don't know who any of the other singers are. Neither do the judges or host.
    - The Masked Singers can tell a couple of their closest relatives or friends that they're on the show, but only if they sign a strict NDA.
    - Before each taping, each Masked Singer meets at various secret locations and are then driven to to the studio. In the car they put on their basic disguise (not their show costume).
    - In the clue packages, there's someone else in the Masked Singer costume. The celebrities then records the voiceovers later.
    - The closeups of audience members' reactions are almost always staged. The audience is told to act a certain way (surprised, amazed, excited, emotional, etc) and the best reactions are shown.
    - The audience can't bring their own cell phones into the theater. Whenever you see the audience on a cell phone, it was one supplied by the show.
    - The Masked Singers are really singing during the filming (not prerecorded), but some may use autotune, according to some sources (not confirmed).

    Regarding the unmaskings:
    - After the audience starts chanting "take it off" the Masked Singer is usually taken backstage to fix their hair and makeup.
    - Then the audience is cleared from the theater. Their "surprised" reactions are prerecorded (see above). They don't find out who the celebrity is until the show airs.
    - Only the production crew, judges, host, and NDA'd family and friends (plus a few lucky others) are actually there when the mask is removed.

And finally, like most talent competitions, the producers have a say in who is and isn't voted out.

    One question I have is...
    - Then the audience is cleared from the theater. Their "surprised" reactions are prerecorded (see above). They don't find out who the celebrity is until the show airs.
So, how is their a visible audience when the unmasked singer sings at the end of the show?

Wow, thank you! :) Yeah, the audience part of it was also something I have wondered about. You can't have a whole, HUGE, room full of people and not have leaks.

That was very interesting. It's quite a production!

Heh. I did like Alyson on HIMYM, but for this, I think of her as formerly of "Buffy" because Willow... magic...

It's just editing magic. When the celebrity is either shown or named, it's a closer-up shot. You see some audience members, but they are crew, friends/family of the celebrity, or extras who were paid a small amount of money and signed an NDA. Wider shots that show the whole audience don't show the celebrity. It's prerecorded.

I think I see what you're talking about. I went back and looked at some past episodes, and they had only two camera shots of the revealed celeb that also included the audience. One was an elevated shot of the stage that also included a section of the audience to stage left/house right, with about 30 people in it. The second was a tracking shot across the front of the stage, with a few more front row people visible (maybe another 10 or so).
