This show made me finally take the 4K plunge. And make me realize how bad the Comcast signal really is :p

I switched to CenturyLink for TV and internet back in May. Its picture quality is horrible compared to DirecTV. For shows on HBO and such, I just watch everything on HBO GO.

Comcast is switching over to h.264 and down rezzing everything to 720p. Looks awful on my 4K most times. I'm like you.....if I can stream it from a service (HBO, Hulu, Amazon, Netflix) I will just to get at least a 1080p signal to the TV.

Look along the right side at the the other articles. The Sun features Page 3 girls' and there are some topless models there. Very mild, but NSFW nonetheless.

That's where I looked before and didn't see anything. Just looked again and still don't see anything. I know The Sun features Page 3 girls so I did a Ctrl+F for "Page 3" and it was not found on the page. But I think all of that stuff on the right side plus all the sponsored content down below is dynamic, so it's entirely possible that when someone looked on Friday, there was a topless Page 3 girl, whereas when I looked, there wasn't.

Yes, absolutely dynamic. When I looked, there were several items that had a topless pic. One, I think, was a paparazzi shot of a topless celeb on the beach as well as a couple other excuses for showing gratuitous partial nudity! Better to have the NSFW tasg than not.

So, sounds like you need an LG, Samsung or Sony TV to see Amazon shows in HDR? I do not have one of those. So, no HDR for me. So annoying too. My PS4, Xbox One and Roku all will stream Amazon 4K to my TV, but no HDR. Why is Amazon making this so difficult?

The way built in apps work on my Vizio is through Googlecast. Doesn't look like Amazon streaming supports Googlecast. Why is Amazon making this so annoying?

It's not Amazon, try shouting at Vizio, both my LG TV and my Roku Ultra pass HDR just fine. Do you have one of the Vizio's that only does Dolby Vision and needs an update for HDR?

I figured out my issue and it is Amazon's fault. I was searching around AVSforum and saw people saying they were seeing it in HDR on Amazon. I posted a question how they were seeing HDR and I wasn't. Turns out if you pick Grand Tour from the big banner ad for it when you first go into the Amazon app, it will not show in HDR. If you select "originals" and then pick the category for UHD shows and pick Grand Tour from there, it will then play in HDR. Just tested it out and sure enough, it plays in HDR. Picked it from the banner ad again, as I was doing yesterday, and no HDR. Why Amazon has an HDR and non-HDR version is beyond me.

A little different, both versions on Roku are UHD. Only one of those versions was HDR.

You know.....the first time I viewed it in 4K I think I also only got the UHD non HDR version. That's weird they are even doing that.

Probably because the majority of their customers don't have an HDR display and don't know the difference, and so are perfectly content with regular UHD (or regular 1080p). Thus, they save on bandwidth by only delivering the HDR version to those who go into the menus and specifically select it.

Beautiful looking show, as expected. It was a decently amusing hour and better than any of the Top Gears from last season, but I thought it was missing a lot of funny. Clearly a lot of money was spent, but I'm not sure all of it is really enhancing the show (e.g. 3D looks into the cars.)

So how realistic was it when Clarkson said they could knock his house down if the P1 wasn't fastest? Do we think he knew ahead of time that the P1 wouldn't be fastest and this was scripted? Or did he really just make that comment off the cuff and then got surprised with the result?

I wonder if the huge payday they are getting from Amazon prompted Clarkson to want to tear down his house and build a bigger one, so they incorporated it into the show as a bet which will then pay off with Hamster and Cpt. Slow driving bulldozers into Clarkson's house later in the season.

This is the thread to discuss the episode, and it says "spoilers" in the title, so I'm not sure why that would bother anyone.

He only lost a bet in this episode. Unless I missed it, the second part has not yet happened in The Grand Tour universe.
