I looked with the Amazon app on my 4k TV yesterday and it wasn't listed as being available in UHD, however looking now it shows up in the 4K list. Guess I'll be rewatching this evening. The 1080p did look fabulous like most Amazon shows do.

Please let me know how it looks (and what TV you have). I'm still on the fence about getting a 4K TV just because 80% of our TV viewing is (really bad) Comcast cable and the one TV I tried the normal "cable" stuff looked pretty bad at times.

It's the middle of the line 2016 65in LG 4K I bought last Christmas. Grand Tour 4K looked amazing. Definitely could see the difference from the 1080p I watched yesterday.
This tv has looked great with Dish HD through an older 722 HDDVR and I currently have Cox HD through the Roamio. I'm not as picky as I used to be but everyone that comes over for football always says how great it looks on this tv.

On a 4K LG OLED with HDR it looked AMAZING.... one of the most beautiful things I've watched recently.
I did notice that on the built-in LG Amazon app the UHD version was a separate link, it did not play in UHD when I clicked the obvious The Grand Tour under New! I had to go down and pick the one in the UHD section.

I also really enjoyed it, it was so nice having the band back together and it made me realize how their "replacements" on Top Gear just are not as much fun to watch, nor do they seem to have as much fun with each other on screen. A very strong first episode and I hope that's a sign of things to come, and since I saw a Focus RS in both the drive up to the tent and then in the coming attractions, I'm in for the season.

I really enjoyed it and as someone else mentioned, it really is about the chemistry between the three (which the replacements on Top Gear do not have). I am going to miss not having the Stig and the celebrities in a reasonably-priced car.

I wonder how long before BBC cancels Top Gear as the current version is a pale imitation of its former self...

It wouldn't surprise me at all if after the 3 year Amazon run, they make a triumphant return to the BBC. Providing Jeremy still wants to work after 3 more years and his mountain of money. I certainly don't see Amazon paying for them beyond this contract. I'm also pretty sure that the BBC will make at least another revamp and season of Top Gear. Grand Tour may make them look bad in the comparison, but it doesn't affect Top Gears ratings, their inept hosting choices did that. Heck, even though down significantly from the past, the last series was profitable.

They were filming a new series of Top Gear U.K. last month. I think Matt LeBlanc signed on for 2 more series so I would expect BBC to keep it for 2 more series unless it just totally tanks with the next series.

I was kinda surprise they bleeped Hammond saying the f word. They are on the Internet now, they can say anything they want.

That F bleep was weird, they did not bleep the "sh!t"word shortly after.

Rewatched the opening again last night. I didn't catch that was a burning caravan at the "Burning Van" which makes sense knowing their love of caravans. :)

How in hell were there not bootleg videos from the crowd? Did they confiscate 5000 phones before people were allowed in?

Because the 'crowd' you saw when they were on stage are paid extras. Lots of careful editing. My "guess" is that the scenes where they are on stage were either shot well before or after burning man...heck they may not even have been near where burning man was held. Same goes for the scenes where the cars (not driven by the guys) approach the stage. There's no way they could get insurance for that unless they had total control over the 'crowd'. It's TV, not real.

It was filmed at Rabbit Dry Lake, California according to the X-Ray extras and it was Burning Van in Grand Tour not Burning Man. :) (Burning Man is in the Black Rock Desert of Nevada.)

Some behind scenes shots of the cars and information on who helped get some of them together for the shot.

What is NSFW about it? I went to the link trying to see what would be objectionable and didn't see anything.

Top Gear was something a parent could watch with their kids without worrying about whether there would be any objectionable content. So I suspect they wanted to respect that and not add things into TGT that would be a surprise to anyone or turn anyone off. This is Amazon's big play to get new subscribers, and that will be limited if the show is not appropriate for all ages.

I'll be the seemingly lone objector and say it was an OK episode. Was like a decent episode of Top Gear. I was COMPLETELY giddy to have the guys back, but the episode was just OK.

Too much time spent on the hypercars, especially with the Ferrari being so limited and holding them back.

The new test track seems pretty lame.

The tent bits went on far long. Though I am totally with them seemingly killing the celebrity guest bits.

I'm looking forward to them getting out in the world and driving amazing cars in beautiful locales.

I think it will take a couple episodes for me to really get into it. It was the same 3 dudes, but it wasn't Top Gear. Once my mind figures out what this new show is, and the hosts get comfortable with it, I think it will get better and better for me.

I watched it on my Roku Premiere+, which does 4K. I guess I don't remember paying close attention to how it looked. I'm sure 1,000% better than the Usenet downloads or BBCA on DirecTV. Someone mentioned above HDR. Is this show HDR? I should have checked what signal my TV was receiving. I'm not really sure if I was watching 4K or HDR. :)

I watched at work Friday during lunch. Later in the evening I pulled it up on my Sony 4K TV and it listed it as UHD HDR. That looked awesome, and it already looked good in 1080P. I wasn't sure 4K was worth it before, but after getting this TV I can tell the difference on everything we watch.
