Oh, absolutely. They were VERY distinct.

The thing I loved about Deadwood was the sense of repressed menace. He was clearly somebody who could blow up at any moment, which created a lot of dramatic tension. Raylan was a lot more laid-back. Dangerous, but not menacing, if you know what I mean. (And part of the fun of Justified was his idiot adversaries not realizing how dangerous he was until it was too late!)

YES. Seth was one wrong word away from blowing up and I don't honestly recall his character ever really smiling. He was so tightly wound every minute. Raylan, on the other hand, always smiling, even when he was putting one between your eyes, casual as you like.

Would’ve liked it if Raylan and had brought Winona with him :)

Apparently, from what they said on the podcast, that was an actual Raylan Stetson from Justified. Olyphant apparently got to keep it after Justified wrapped, so he brought it with him for this.

I'm very disappointed that it wasn't a western. So it's just a Dirty Harry show, basically? and I do love a rocket launcher that he can shoot with a car 2 feet behind him without any issue

and to bring it back on topic, the hat on the Good Place seemed a lot bigger than what he's wearing on Justified...

The disco ball joke was good, but the actual disco ball was a little disappointing. It was clear they made someone in the props department build a tiny disco ball and it showed. I don't know why they didn't just use one of the thousands of cheap plastic mini disco balls you can buy off the shelf. It would have looked much better.

So apparently I'm one of these people. I remember trying to give Justified a chance back in the day but gave up for some reason. But I can stream it on Amazon Prime for "free" so tonight I watched S01E01. And pretty much loved it. I would have continued watching but my cable and internet decided at that moment to go out. I figure the Universe doesn't want me to watch Justified. :(

Not remotely a Dirty Harry show. And that may be the only appearance of a rocket launcher in the entire six-year run of the series.

Also, that’s definitely the hat Raylan wore for 99% of the series. I won’t get into the other 1% here. :)

To be fair, except for the first episode, it was filmed (taped? hard disked?) in California.

In any case, if you don't like "Justified" your other opinions are valueless to me.

Wow, I never knew that. I always assumed it was in Georgia or some such.

I didn't say I didn't like it. After seeing the hat on this show and then all the talk about some sort of vigilante bounty hunter or something like that, I was expecting a Western. So when the first scene was at some Miami hotel pool, I was disappointed and had to adjust/reset my expectations.

The Rocket Launcher thing did bother me, though, I won't lie.

I loved "Justified", but sometimes it really took me out of the story because many locations were very recognizable; except the very last episode, where Raylin actually goes to California. For the first episode and the last episode we had consistency.

Okay, I will unblock you then. And I agree with you about the LAWS blow-back issue. Everyone who remembers Tyne Daly in "Dirty Harry" should have too.

I 100% agree, I had the exact same thought.

So I went googling, and found that exact same one being sold as a cheap plastic mini disco ball. So they probably didn't make it, they probably ordered something off of amazon - and didn't realize until it arrived that it would look cheesy in the shot, and used it anyway.

I would think that the whole point of disco would be to be cheesy. Trying to get a better quality ball would be going in a less amusing direction.

He's a Marshall. Because of that first scene he's sent back to his home in the Wild West of Hillbillies aka hollers of Kentucky where, as you can imagine, they are not fond of police and certainly not of one of their own that took off to become one somewhere else.

Whew...dodged that bullet. I will sleep better knowing that I am back in your good graces! :D :p

I watched the first 2 episodes. I was expecting a Clint Eastwood from The Good, The Bad, and The Ugly genre but found a Clint Eastwood from Dirty Harry instead (I understand that it's not a Dirty Harry show). So I just had to adjust. I was all set to have ice cream and got Creme Caramel instead. Both are great, but just different.
