Well, he's back from the Speed Force and is faster than ever. I'm not sure how I feel about having huge cliff-hangers at the end of a season that get fully resolved in the first show of the next season. In any case, the season opening ("Flash Reborn") left a lot of questions to be answered. Barry has no recollection of anything between him leaving and him coming out of his mental breakdown. They all seem quick to dismiss all the stuff he was writing down in weird symbols, but I'm pretty sure those gibberish writings will mean something.

And like the other seasons, the "villain" is introduced at the end. Is that... Metron? It's the only DC character that comes to mind, and is VERY interesting because he's not a villain. If it is, then those symbols start making sense, as they look like a lot of symbols you see whenever you're dealing with the New Gods.

I enjoyed the second episode, "Mixed Signals". It was more of a comic episode than anything, but that's what I like about the show. It doesn't try to get all gritty. His suit going into "floatation device" mode made me chuckle.

<sigh> Iris is still tedious and a total drama queen.

IMDb refers to him as the Thinker.

I stopped watching last season, think I skipped that last 4 episodes, so tedious. But now that its back to the monster/badguy of the week I am back in.

At least he finally seems to take advantage of his powers so far this season?

I looked it up and he's a Flash rogue, so I guess we'll have him all season. Which is a shame, because he doesn't sound interesting at all. At least he's not a speedster. I was getting tired of the villain-speedster-of-the-season storylines.

So far he’s been a vehicle for bringing in other villains so maybe it won’t be him as much as the villains.

Plus Flash has a history of escalating Big Bads...i.e., whoever is the main villain at the beginning of the season often isn't by the end.

The other reviewers are glad that the main baddie is not a speedster. The Thinker is gathering baddies, assuming that he wants them all in the same prison at Star Labs for some other nefarious plot.

Many other people are speculating this is not really Barry. It's someone else, hence the changes in personality. If it's Barry, then the whole last year's cliffhanger was all for naught.

Yeah. That's the first thing that came to mind too. Along with those weird symbols Barry kept drawing. They look a lot like symbols you see appearing whenever the New Gods are involved. The pics I've seen of The Thinker often don't have him sitting in a high-tech chair (that looks VERY much like a new interpretation of the Mobius chair Metron uses), but maybe it's misdirection on the part of the writers. He did say "I'm thinking...", so the signs do point to The Thinker (yawn).

I suspect the New Gods are pretty unlikely, considering what's going on in the Justice League movie...

Last season, Savitar/Barry mentioned a future foe by the name of Devoe.
There's a Golden Age Flash villain named Clifford Devoe aka the Thinker.

If this is a villain who's M.O. will be meticulous planning and out thinking his opponents, well, Team Flash is screwed.

Or for that matter, if there's a villain who gives the slightest thought to just about anything... :D

My patience with the show has grown pretty thin. Lots of reasons why, but the uselessness of the Iris character is a big one, compounded by the fact that Candace Patton basically just emotes rather than acts. And that's a second reason: three of the show's regular characters are played by actors who can't act: Patton, Pannabaker, and Lonsdale. The material is generally weak enough that the show needs a better principal cast to carry it.

Despite these problems, it manages to be good enough light entertainment that I'll hang with it. But I find that it doesn't compel me to watch it in any hurry these days.
