A Sean Penn production about the first man on the moon. I thought it was going to be a theatrical film.

I’ve watched the promo and it looks odd. Almost like an alternate universe version of the moon landing.

Anyway, it’s streaming all eps on Hulu.

"The First" Sean Penn Hulu series is about going to Mars.

The theatrical movie "First Man" is the one about Neil Armstrong. (October 12)

Even though I am not a Sean Penn fan, I thought it was good.

    Without spoilerizing too much
The plot is about a company named Vista being awarded a contract from NASA to build a Mars infrastructure (a way to get humans off the surface of the Earth, to Mars, and back) and over seeing, well pretty much everything. Even the astronauts.

    Planning on watching tonight.
Can this be changed to a **Spoilers** thread, or should new one be started.

I can’t seem to change it. You may want to start a spoilers thread. I’d do it, but it may get confusing.

    Just watched e1.
Good show. I didn't realize that Hulu ran all 8 episodes, so I won't post a spoiler thread as I don't plan to bing.
Anyway, how far in the future is this taking place? Looks about 2030ish

I haven’t seen an exact date but I did see it described as “near future.”

2030 sounds right. I think I saw 2034 somewhere in the show or maybe a review

I can't believe how ripped Sean Penn is for a 58 year old! His body is 28 but his face is at least 65 ...
I'm really liking this show (two episodes in) so far.

Count me after two episodes as liking this a lot.

    Interesting and different.

    Also two in.

Not at all what I was expecting, but quite good!

I would have liked it more if it had been about a Mars mission. It is mainly about a bunch of spoiled and messed up families with 3% science added to spice it up. The pace is glacial. This is the opposite of The Martian. I suffered through all 8 episodes hoping for a Mars movie. The ending was ok!

It is character and not science oriented but Sean Penn can make anything watchable. Unlike "disaster every week" Salvation

We watched the first episode. I've been a fan of Sean Penn since Fast Times at Ridgemont High.

    That's a +
Hated The Martian (movie), and the book.
If he had died in the end it would have been more believable.
