Yep, I definitely got that vibe from that action in the scene.

Oooh - I had not thought that, or even noticed anything of the sort.
That's very interesting! She certainly did seem much more than just perturbed that he'd moved on with his life and had those kids he wasn't supposed to have. Sixty six years is a might long time...

Why would aliens have the custom of wedding rings though?

Oh, I don't really think we want to go down that road, do we?

Why do the aliens speak perfect English? Why do they look just like us? Why did they apparently arrive on our planet wearing clothes that fit right in? Why did they know enough about our culture to fit in well enough to hide for 66 years without arising any suspicion whatsoever?

Wedding rings are really pretty far down on my list of highly improbable coincidences.

Because they are descendants of humans that left our planet hundreds of years ago. That's why they wear wedding rings, their DNA is nearly identical to ours, they speak perfect English, they look just like us, and that's how they fit into our culture so easily.

The aliens in this show make a lot more sense than half of what goes on in 'Glee' :D

Well, I think part of her problem is that the script requires her to always be showing fear and panic.

OK, but that still doesn't make much sense. Wouldn't they have developed their own customs, practices, and styles over the last hundreds of years? They didn't show up dressed and acting like people of the Middle Ages and speaking Middle English.

We are supposed to believe they went to another planet for hundreds of years and their culture evolved, and even though they are different than us in some important (but unstated) ways and live in a completely different environment, their culture and language just happened to have evolved exactly, precisely like ours?

We don't know what their culture is like on the planet they went to and came back from. I seems they are strong believers in the "When in Rome" philosophy.

And we don't know that they specifically came from another planet...they say "far away" or words to that effect, but far in what sense? Space? Time? Dimensions? We still don't know who they are or where they're from, only that they are extremely closely related to us on a genetic level.

    Maybe they're from Caprica.

    :D

    Too late!

Michael did tell Leila that they were from a particular star, NGC-something.

(Hey, maybe that is Caprica's star!)

I did get a vibe from Sophia and Michael too. If Michael was Sophia's husband, is Thomas his son?

NGC 2Fitty3, actually. Known as the Silver Dollar galaxy, (among others). It's roughly 10-12 Mly out, as the crow flies. (Give or take a few km).

I don't think they left Earth a few hundred years ago. :)

Maybe they caught the nearest wormhole. :)

Well, they DO have teleportation technology. And they ARE building a vast teleporter to bring their people here.

But if NGC-256 is really where they're from, then I'm even more disappointed in this show than I already was. Because that makes no sense. I still think (at least, hope) that we haven't had the story yet of where they're from.

Actually, that's probably exactly what they did. It could very well be that NGC-256 is their home, but they are also humans from the future. (And Thomas is creating the portal so they can come back and take our jobs. :D)

Perhaps in the future they use wormholes to travel between worlds, many of whose resources had been used up before they moved on to others. And if the ships themselves didn't create the wormholes, but some larger gateway devices did, then it makes sense that they couldn't simply repair the ship in order to go home.

Maybe they were traveling to Earth after having left it long ago to see if the resources had been replenished. Or maybe they were going somewhere else entirely. But something happened that caused them to appear at an earlier time in Earth's history.

If the signal they sent was directed at NGC-256, then maybe they are from 10-12 million years in the future, and the message, traveling at light speed, will arrive in their present time.

    According to the previews...

...they are going to get a response in this week's episode, so it will be interesting to see how that happens.
I wonder if Thomas creating the portal is "The Event" that gives humans portal technology, and allows them to explore the stars, thus eventually leading to them colonizing NGC-256 in the future.

So you're the president of the United States of America, a hostile and technological advanced group (does he know they're aliens yet?) has threatened to steal fuel rods from the SONGS (San Onofre Nuclear Generating Station). What do you do?

Stupid thing to do: Only have 4 FBI agents escort the fuel rods, in two black SUV's. Armed only with side arms, have zero air cover, and no up to date satellite surveillance.

More intelligent thing to do: Since you're the Commander In Chief, and Camp Pendleton is only a few miles away you have several hilo's fly over the escort armed with missiles/guns, a platoon, **** it, a whole battalion of ready to kill marines in armored vehicles, etc.. Throw in some tanks maybe..

    Which choice would you do?

But in a world where a nuclear power plant can be shut down and the rods cooled safely overnight, who knows? Maybe two SUVs would be considered overkill for security, and the only reason the aliens were able to overcome them was their alien awesomeness?

"You had TWO SUVS! How could you let them get the rods?!?"

    "But, sir...they were ALIENS!"

    "... Oh."
