I agree that this is a wonderful series. As for Princess Alice, I never knew she existed until now, and apparently the depiction shown in the episodes of her appearance were not very factual.

Princess Anne, on the other hand, I vaguely knew of but she really shines in the series and caused me to read more about her. Some very interesting video on line about her is available as well, Youtube, I think.

    Morgan...
My mother was a big royalist, and I still remember to this day, the look on her face, when I announced I'd lost a tooth, just as Princess Anne was walking down the aisle for her (first) wedding

I'm currently a couple eps into season 4. While I don't think I could say any one series is the best-acted - these days there is a lot of great television out there - certainly this is one of the best. Also one of the finest written and directed. At the end of episode 2, with the stag head being mounted on the wall as Diana is accepted into the royal family and starting to be followed by paparazzi... That's just great writing and a superb use of dramatic irony.

I'd put The Crown, especially these last two seasons, up there with any of the really great tv series, past or present.

The 4th season has been great. My favorite one.

The best characters have been Churchill, Thatcher, and Lady D. Two of those have been prominent in season 4.

I agree those are great characters; I also think the Queen and, in these last two seasons, Prince Phillip, are especially well-written and acted.

And let's not forget King George mostly from season 1. Excellent acting and character.

Just finished S4. Really enjoyed it. I loved how they ended with a family portrait, made all the more poignant as this is the last time we'll see these actors. I vaguely recall something similar at the end of S2.

As time has gone by, they've written Prince Philip to be a more sympathetic character. Whereas Charles has become more of a dickwad. He keeps forgetting, every royal family member is simply a planet revolving around the sun that is QE2. And if you marry in, you're just a moon orbiting a planet orbiting the sun. Prince Philip nailed it.

The casting on this show is so well done. Not just what great performers they are, but how well they physically fit their roles.

    Looking forward to 2022!
