I clicked on one of the new TiVo+ entries in my guide this evening to check it out - BIG MISTAKE. I only did this because someone in my family had already clicked on “accept” the other day. (I still don’t know what we have now accepted.) My screen then went blank and nothing ever played. After a long wait I tried to get out of the screen by pressing options like Back, Live TV, TIVO, etc. but nothing I pressed on the remote would get me out of that screen. I then went to the machine to do a forced reboot and before I could pull the plug it rebooted itself. I will never purposely select one of these entries again.

Meh, I don’t use a single one of those features and don’t care about any of them. I do, however, use and appreciate CEC, as well as hands-free auto commercial skip, multiple times daily though.

And I appreciate Hydra’s modern look and feel over the sad, outdated chunkiness that is TE3 too. In 2019 and beyond, that old UI is sorta embarrassing, especially on a 75”+ 4K TV.

I have 3 V1 Minis and they all work fine as long as you ONLY use them for Tivo functions. No apps and no slowness, it's just like sitting in front of the DVR. These are all on MoCA btw.

I agree with the rest of your points btw, but Minis are not an issue if you don't run apps on them. Get sticks or use TV apps instead.

It just amazes me that TiVo continues to push TiVo+ to the level they do. If you go on social media, you’d be extremely hard pressed to find anyone who finds it useful but will find lots of complaining.

Just get the damned thing out of my guide and get rid of TiVo-3 as a short cut to what is already all over the damned place.

Meanwhile, they messed up What to Watch as it has less control over categories and filters and doesn’t allow for live tv visiting while using it.

Really bad decisions on TiVo’s part.

Yea, the Minis work fine to play recordings from other TiVos, but the menus are still noticeably slower than the Bolt they are streaming from, which isn't exactly speedy to begin with... But they also lock up and need to be rebooted every few weeks, even if they aren't used.

I use TE3 and never see lockups or menu slowness on Minis, even if unused for weeks. Sounds like TE4 is your problem.

Ahh... the New Guide in Hydra.
All those exciting new TiVo+ Ribbon rows between my channels..

    Wonderful Glitch!
So I am way down in the 800's. Locals are at 702, 704, 712.
So I use my TiVo remote to go up to 700 one page at time.

So it scrolls backwards up the list as expected 10 or so channels at a time.

    790
    780
    770
    760
    750
    740
    730
    720
    710
    800 (!)

No joke.... When I get to 700 it displays 700-712 for 1/2 second and then goes to 800-812. Suck!!! Repeatable

    I'm getting this as well.

The apps in general seem to crash more, post TiVo+. But has anyone else noticed that the TiVo hard crashes if you try and exit TiVo+ while it's still loading?

    For me it's:

    1) Accidentally click one of the TiVo+ ribbons in the guide (for example, if you know the channel you want is one bar up, and you don't expect the ribbon to be there.)
    2) TiVo+ begins to load. Mash "Back" and/or the TiVo button to try and cancel it.
    3) Everything goes black and freezes. Eventually it hard resets.

Honestly, that could be a macro. Just replace "Tivo+" with whatever latest disaster they fall over themselves to get out the door.

Pfffft. "Overuse?" No one's using it. It's not connecting because it's been broken from the start.

I didn't call support for this but I did this after one of my 2 minis was doing this on their own and it shockingly did work for some reason. So it did at least fix it for one customer :)

I'm reminded of a quote from the movie, TommyBoy. Tommy - "...lots of people go to college for 8 years" Richard - "yea...they're called doctors."

My point? Being at least 5 years behind the eight ball is hardly being rushed. :)

The TIVO+ intrusion into my channel guide disappeared about 10 days ago. I thought Tivo had come to their senses and realized what a BAD MISTAKE they had made when they forced this (and the Pre-Roll Ads) upon their user base.

Last night my Tivo became unresponsive and I had to do a power off restart. Upon power up the annoying, frustrating, stupid, distracting, annoying (yes doubly annoying) TIVO+ intrusion into my channel guide was back! All I could think was what the heck is Tivo thinking. I bought my 1TB Bolt Vox in June and paid for a lifetime subscription. I'm all in at nearly $800. There were no Pre-Roll Ads and no TIVO+ crap in the channel guide. Had I been aware of these coming "features" I would NEVER have purhased a Tivo product. I bought into the Tivo brand ONLY because of their stellar history of making the user experience as care free as possible. I was obviously naive and mistaken to think that the Tivo history of being user oriented would continue.

I call upon Tivo to correct these miss-steps and focus on the core aspects of their name brand. As Tivo becomes known as that brand that screws over their own customer base in search of more revenue for owners/investors to milk from the company, their popularity will drop - as has happened to thousands of tech companies over the years. Put your customer's interest FIRST and success will find you!

You should have done a little research before purchasing. That stellar user-oriented history has been gone for at least 5 years already.

True. I owned a Moxi for many years - since my ReplayTV DVRs were rendered useless when everything on cable went digital. Then last Spring, Moxi sold out its user base and shut down access to the user guide resulting in Moxi DVRs with NO recording capability. To them, the concept of lifetime service had a finite life span.

I had done some research on Tivo years earlier before opting for the Moxi. So based on what I remembered from earlier Tivo reputation, I jumped into the Tivo experience. Initially I was pleased. But the imposition of the Pre-Roll Ads and then the "TIVO+" intrusion in the channel guide have soured me on Tivo. I'm too invested to abandon it just yet. But if I could get my money back (for the Tivo AND Lifetime subscription) I'd do so in a heart beat.

This gives me pause to wonder if Tivo might be guilty of "breach of contract"? Specifically as it relates to the "Pre-Roll Ads"! Users (such as myself) who bought Tivos in order to minimize watching advertisements on TV have been betrayed by Tivo itself by forcing these new ads on the viewer. I'm not sure it warrants a class action lawsuit but if one happens I would be inclined to join the effort...

I'll be calling Tivo shortly to request removal of the Pre-Roll Ads. I'll touch base here to share how that goes.

Good luck. You might also want to consider downgrading to TE3, to remove both pre-roll ads and TiVo+, as well as reinstate several valuable features from the old user-oriented days.
