Yes, understood and agreed, but I was responding to the post directly above mine, who was giving the title to Hydra.

The release notes are indicating that issue was fixed with version 21.9.6.v5.

Yep. Also, all the fixes are new. Last time over half were "repeats" from the previous release.

The fact that it's ONLY on Hydra, and not also on TE3...

I think it's a good thing that they should roll out to all of us, even TE3. That it needs tweaking, hopefully they'll get better once they learn what to do.

Give people who want it the option? That I might get behind. Shove it down peoples' throats? Shove it...ummm...somewhere else.

Yea, but the good news is Rovi TiVo only has beaten the Hindenburg disaster by just a little.

Using a TiVo now feels like death by a thousand cuts.
As an early adopter of the S1 and S3 I know what a good product they were. I could write pages about our ups and downs, but everything lately is down.

    - The Bolt's tuner is not good for OTA, particularly with strong signals. There's no indication the Edge is any better.
    - My minis (V2s) are almost unusably slow, one out of 3 has died. The other 2 lock up pretty consistently. Spending $180 on a new Mini Vox is not going to happen.
    - Apps (Youtube, Netflix) on the Bolt are aging and slow. We don't even bother running them on the minis anymore due to lockups. A $25-30 Fire TV or Roku runs circles around the TiVos, even the Bolt.
    - Preroll ads
    - TiVo+
    - Guide data errors
    - Promised Roku app never delivered
    - Mobile version often won't connect (iPad) or makes me log in every time I use it (Android)

Unfortunately, this is what happens when you get in bed with Wall Street vultures. It’s not ok to just provide a quality, profitable service. You are forced to continually screw your customers to leech every last penny out of them until they cancel. Welcome to the new “prosperity”.

Your feelings are understandable. But when it becomes a consistent revolving door of consumer disappointed and disapproval generated from a revolving of top executives, the problem is with the Board of Directors that dose the hiring of those executives. The Rovi/TiVo Board of Directors needs to be investigated for conflicts of interest, bad parliamentary practices and overall membership competency.

You are right, however my point is that this isn’t just a TiVo problem. All companies operate this way now. They don’t care at all about their customers or the service they provide. They only care about how their balance sheet appears to investors. They don’t even attempt to make money selling goods or services, they live and die on Wall Street margins. The result for customers become how much trash will they tolerate before they cancel, and how many will cancel before it affects our stock ratings.

I don't mind that TiVo+ is low def. Free is free. But what prevents me from using it is that they don't list the currently playing program in the guide. I'm not going to waste my time accessing the channel to randomly see what's on. If they can fix this issue, I'd be much happier with this newest addition. Until they do that, I have zero interest in using these new channels.

So I spent a few, well many, minutes on the phone with a TiVo supervisor. I voiced my displeasure in about the TiVo+ ads in the guide, and asked for compensation for the loss of features encountered when downgrading. Guess what...they gave me 5 months free. Probably not worth the time and inconvenience, but certainly sends a message. If hundreds or thousands of us do the same, they may actually make it optional.

I would be surprised if more than a dozen customers actually watch the content offered in “TiVo+.”

Everything about its implementation in our TiVo boxes is pathetic. The app on my Mini won’t even allow me to accept the ToS in order to check it out. PATHETIC.

Awesome! (Although, you're lucky that they didn't charge you extra, getting back the Live Guide, PC -> TiVo box transfers, on-box TiVo box -> TiVo box transfer functionality, and TiVo Online transfers that don't cut off prematurely. Oh, And Suggestions, again. ;) )
