I totally agree. Sheldon would use Spock's code.
Tough to make a countdown when the graphic itself is created by someone carving it into some acetate with an X-Acto knife and then back lighting it!
As others have opined about this episode, Leonard's relationship with Pria is about to implode... or, at least I certainly hope so.
Make it so, number one...
Except they could have used the other countdown mechanism (nixie tubes?) they showed other times.
For the record, we laughed a lot... and I don't "put up" with Sheldon, like someone else put it. He's the funniest part of the show.
I'm an embarrassment to my Star Trek geekdom. I have some dim memory of them using nixie tubes at some point, but I can't remember when. Anyone else?
In the episode "The Corbomite Maneuver" they used a modified mechanical digital clock (the old type with geared number wheels). This prop, Sulu's "chronometer", was used in a few episodes.
This. They were out of menthol, almost had me wetting my pants it was so well delivered!
Wait, I missed this earlier but what?
Leonard didn't break up with Penny.
Penny dumped Leonard because Evil Wil Wheaton convinced her that if she thought she couldn't ever love Leonard, it was kinder to dump him immediately than to string him along.
And then Sheldon would rewrite the email and threaten to send it. Or am I missing something? Leonard's signature and acceptance of the new agreement in exchange for Sheldon NOT sending the email to her parents. If Leonard or Priya void the roommate agreement before she tells her parents what is to stop Sheldon from emailing them? If they break up or she tells her parents then maybe they would come back and say the original agreement was signed under duress and isn't valid. Chances are like most sitcoms they will drop this for many episodes or totally. Not every story line in a 30 min sitcom goes all the way through to the end.
I will still find the show funny if the roommate agreement angle is never mentioned again.
I enjoy this show and all the characters it's actually one of maybe 5 shows I follow now. It's a 30 min sitcom and I think many over think these things.
You know what bothered me about this episode?
Sheldon HAS kissed a woman before-Leonard's Mom.
Bill Prady responded to that question on twitter.
"we felt that Sheldon wouldn't have counted that. It wasn't mutual — Beverly kind of attacked him."
Didn't Amy also do that?
maybe I am remembering the scene wrong.
You are not. Amy totally initiated and I don't remember Sheldon doing anything but sitting there. So I guess that means he's still never had a first kiss.
Ah! Awesome. Thanks!
Ugh, didn't care for this episode. I wish they would dump all of the female characters - I ended up fast forwarding through their scenes so that left only 10 minutes of actual show.
I guess I'll give this show another week or two and then I'll probably dump the SP.
Bernadette should have been the one to kiss Penny...so I'd like it.
What you're missing is the fact that Sheldon insists that there be rules and that he's a stickler for them.
If he just wanted Leonard and Pria to do what he wanted, he would have just simply said, "Do what I want or I send the emai".
But he wants rules so he drafted up a new roommate agreement.
And no doubt, he would want something to have to box Leonard in after Pria leaves (because I'm sure he doesn't expect their relationship to last).
And had Pria not panicked and pointed out the duress angle, Sheldon would have been trapped, just like he was then the ladies made him go dancing with them.
It probably won't be mentioned again. Doesn't mean I'll enjoy the show less.
Hi, you must be new here.
Welcome to TCF.
Yeah, I think Sheldon would consider that as she kissed him. He was not the actor, but the acted upon.
When I saw the title of the episode about a week before it aired, I knew it was going to consist of Priya using her lawyer skills to punch holes in the ridiculous roommate agreement. I was glad to be done with that bit of foolishness, because nobody, not even someone with such low self-esteem as Leonard, would put up with Sheldon's brand of dictatorship.
Imagine my dismay when, by the end of the episode, there was an even more ridiculous agreement in place.
I thought it was all really funny. I can overlook pretty much anything if a comedy show is actually, ummmmm, funny!!
I liked this episode a lot, and it's always fun seeing Sheldon getting his comeuppance. Shame he had to ruin it all using blackmail.
I love how AFF is loosening up and it's a great contrast to how Shelden still hasn't. I love the kiss and how she had to throw up afterwards (I have to admit it took me a moment to realize she was puking, not from the kiss, but from having too much to drink). I predicted a few episodes back that they might finally do coitus on the pre-text of it being a "scientific experiment".
Oh and Penny in that red dress.....awesome!!
Loved that the Lorre card actually had something to do with the episode in a weird sort of way. Best one of the season so far.
