Not to be a JP apologist, but he had a point when he asked Andi why she didn't initiate any discussion about religion, politics, etc. I don't understand why she felt that it was solely up to him to bring up those topics.

I think Andi mentioned that every time she did try to say something about herself, JP immediately turned it into something about himself.

I loved it when JP tried to challenge Andi with "well, what religion am I?", and she answered, "Catholic." Yeah! :p

Could have been a guess. He speaks Spanish so ther was a 95% chance it would be catholic.

And are these really the topics to bring up in the fantasy suite?

I don't really read The Bachelor message board at ABC that much but when I skimmed it the other day, it almost seemed like there was a male/female divide on Andi vs JP. There was this thread on it: http://mb.abc.go.com/discussions/Th...n_Pablo_breakup/abc0000d7/2103.1?nav=messages.

It's interesting that JP has the target of apparently been the target of a bunch of attacks from other "alumni", like http://thestir.cafemom.com/entertainment/169010/catherine_giudici_trista_souter_attack.

Side note: Does anyone here read Chris Harrison's blog or that of JP? Here are the most recent entries:

That ended pretty much like I expected. JP is clearly clueless. If Claire was so "offended" by his comments in the helicopter, why didn't she leave? She set those expectations when she went looking for a booty call in Vietnam. And then she's claiming that she was finally able to get closure? Did she mean after JP dumped her? At that point it's all just sour grapes, IMO.

I don't get Andi, either. Renee would have been a better choice, but I don't think that she would bring the drama that Andi will.

Claire didn't do anything bad or wrong. The only mistake she made was trying to let him talk his way out of it. Let's be real here, if a guy is willing to go the extra mile and tell a girl how much he loves her and that she is the center of his universe, then she's perfectly happy with the dirty talk. He just made the mistake of trying the dirty talk at the wrong time, and without the Jerry McGuire speech. She was just giving him the opportunity to get caught up on the sweet talk to make up for it. He didn't do it so hell's wrath was unleashed.

Claire is a beautiful woman with the desire to be a good person and share her soul with someone. Can't blame a gal for that. It's even admirable. Unfortunately, she has the emotional and intellectual level of a high school teen, so a lot of the stuff she does looks very wrong. That's not her fault. She's trying real hard. But she's just in over her head. You can tell some times when she just smiles and looks around, she has lost (at that moment) the ability to adequately comprehend what is really going on around her and is just seeking a sign that everybody is ok with her.

You hit the nail on the head. Renee would be boring in comparison. But I'd watch it if she were the one. With Andi, I fear it will be like that other little ditzy brunette who never figured out who she wanted to pick. I don't remember what happened to her. I just remember her showing up on following Bachelor seasons and trying to get another 15 minutes of fame. What a fame whore.

    1. JP is a tool
    2. Nikki is an idiot
    3. Clare is a clueless idiot
    4. Renee is engaged, thus the Bachelorette crown goes to Andi - people like that she stood up to JP. Other than that - not sure what she has to offer. My choice would have been Sharleen. She was my favorite contestant ever.

Skimming some comments last night on https://www.facebook.com/TheBachelor and from some other Facebook status updates related to The Bachelor last night, it seems like the hate for JP and this season was pretty universal.

I do agree w/the point the JP made and some made about him not proposing and not saying that he loved Nikki. There's no reason he should be forced and lie about it. If he's at that point, he is. If he's not, don't say it.

We obviously all how most of the couples at the end of each season turn out in the end...

But yeah, he was surprisingly somewhat rude to Chris Harrison. I wonder why the folks in the hot seat in the back aren't shown what the audience is shown. It seems like it's intentional, to keep them partly in the dark.
Exactly! I don't plan to watch other than FFing to parts w/scenery, which has been how much I've been watching The Bachelorette anyway.
Too bad she lives in Germany. :( If she lived in the Bay Area...

I think the real issue was where JP was trying to draw the line for where the show ends and the real world begins. Chris' point is that the show doesn't end until the show actually ends. JP was trying to say that the show ended after the possible proposal shot. Any time on "After the Final Rose" was after the show and he didn't have any obligation to share his feelings with the audience. Obviously, he was wrong. :D

They were really just debating the cut-off point of his (JP's) implied contract of lack of privacy. What I don't get, and I'm not sure what the true basis is for it, was the fact that he refused to say that he loved Nikki. People love others all the time and then find enough irreconcilable differences that they have to part ways. There's no apparent reason why he can't do that. I'd just like to know why he thinks he can't do that. Could be something to do with his daughter. Or some example that he's trying to set for her. Just no way to know for sure.

You are giving him way too much credit.

I agree that he's a tool. I just think it's a bit more complicated than him just being a tool.

It's fairly obvious he was pissed at the show/producers plus all the twitter style feedback such that he did not want to give the show/audience anything.

What he doesn't realize was is just made things worse. He has just fed the beast and has become much more of a pariah.

He could have just said they need to figure out jobs, moving, etc before making such a big commitment.

yep. And his denial of the promise he made about having a surprise said it all. I think, at that point, most everybody knew he was a bold faced liar. But hey, maybe CH just didn't remember anything right, right? ;)

Stayed home sick today and watched the finale. Clare's exit was the best I've seen. For her of course! Saying to him: "your not the man I want my children to have" was great!

Also liked what Sean said to JP: "sorry to break it to you but your life is not private even after the final rose".

I only watched the finale to see what the talk was all about with this guy, but I recall her quote as "you're not the father I want my children to have", or words to that effect.

I also believe his excuse for not using the L-word was because her father made a big deal about only approving of a man who was 100% into the relationship with his daughter.

My wife, who is from Brazil, said that it's a cultural thing. She said that it is common for South American men to not say "I love you" to a woman until you are engaged to be married. Who knows how much this played a part, if any, in his refusal to say that he loved Nikki, but it may help explain a little bit.

Interesting. It would have been nice to hear him say something along those lines while Chris was grilling him about it.
