Plus, sending Henry off to boarding school eliminates the problem of trying to write him into the show or explain why he's always absent.

I was wondering why they didn't just say sure, honey, we're so proud of you and for a reward we're going to take a family vacation in Europe. I mean it's not like he'd be leaving for school in 2 weeks.

Well, Tuan was sabotaging Pasha. I like to think Pasha could've assimilated over time and maybe if he found a real friend.

While true, the results they saw, the heartbreak of the parents, the toll it took on the kid has to be a factor in their thinking.

Are you still talking about Henry going to boarding school, or the entire family leaving for Russia. Because one of those is definitely not happening.

All of the above. But also the whole theme of them even considering going back to Russia and the effect it would have on the family, and what may have contributed to Philip's outburst to Henry about him not going to boarding school. They are obviously not going back now, but all off this will factor into the decision to let Henry go or not. I don't think it's the foregone conclusion that he now goes that everyone seems to think here.

Reagan's "We begin bombing in five minutes" blunder happened on August 11, 1984. Assuming the school started in September, Henry would have been starting school in a few weeks.

I always try to pay attention to any historical time references because that's the only clue they give us as to how much time has passed. I had just finished looking up the date of Reagan's address when they cut to the shot of Martha and her tutor commenting on the beautiful weather, while there's snow on the ground ... presumably in August. Then, we see P&E and Tuan going to the Russians' house wearing pretty heavy jackets for August.

    I found that funny.

Speaking of time passing, there really isn't anything time sensitive in the show now, so I wonder how far they'll skip ahead for next season? In past seasons, the jumps have been pretty big, but this year they only skipped ahead a couple of weeks from Super Bowl Sunday 1984 at the end of last season to sometime during the Sarajevo Olympics to start this season.

OK, well add that to the lack of realism. You don't get into a prestigious private school, especially on scholarship, with a few weeks' notice.

If they could get Paige on board, they could ship Henry to boarding school and then take a European vacation and somehow fake their deaths. It's funny that they're so concerned about Henry, since they aren't home 6 nights a week and seemingly rarely interact with him. Maybe (big stretch) they could get Paige to go to Russia, but zero chance that's any kind of good idea for Henry. The family cover was one of the better things about this show, but they just stretch credulity with these trips to boff tai chi corn masters, kill grandmothers, work Kimmy, and have a whole separate family (around the block) from the Russian defector. When she lectured Tuan about multiple ops, I was like yeah, no s---.

Too bad they don't realize how bad things suck "back home", because running a travel agency and letting their kids go to school and get married and lead a life is infinitely the better retirement.

I suppose they think that if they stay they will always be asking them to do a mission here and there. To kill this guy and that guy even though they're "retired"

Funny E looking at her dresses and then all those shoes.... Of course she has clothes for 3 or 4 different women. ;)

Hers has to be so she can keep all of her different personas separate. She doesn't want to accidentally put on an Elizabeth blouse when she's supposed to be Dee.

I always assumed all the dresses, wigs, makeup and other items used as part of their disguises are kept at the location that they use to change. Keeping them at home would be a huge mistake.

That's a good point. Those disguises would take some time to get everything in place and applied properly. There must be some off-site location where they can make the switch without it having to be in a public bathroom or in their car or something. But I wonder why we've never seen that process or that location.

Then again, showing up at the other place out of character would be worse...

Polygraphs are still used today for clearances. One of the highest clearances you can get is a TS/SCI with Poly. I think the measure more than galvanic skin response.

If they only measured one thing, they wouldn't be called Polygraphs.

I didn't say they only measured GSR, just that it's one of the things it monitors.

I said I built a GSR kit that I could fool.

Worst season of this series. Not so sure I'll be back. Maybe I'll wait and binge it when it's on Netflix.
